New Way of Showing OTU Purchase?

I know in the past when you purchased OTU points you would have a new home resort show up randomly. I bought some OTU points for a stay that starts at the end of next week (was able to get a BWV studio for the night we arrive instead of staying at Pop). I noticed there are no "new' home resorts listed and under my dashboard it instead shows:

We haven't bought OTU points in a couple of years but I don't remember this displaying before.

I have the same thing and have never seen it prior. It has been more than a year since I bought OTUP in June.

That might be a new method for MS to make sure owners know they don’t have 11 month privileges with those points. Or/and so that MS doesn’t have to worry about pulling OTUP from an owner’s existing home resort (it must be difficult for them when some of y’all own so many home resorts). IOW, might be administrative to make MS job easier.

All my points are resale and I have an upcoming reservation with OTUP. I think last year, when I had a different reservation with OTUP in my dashboard, I was able to search for RIV availability, which I would not have been able to book with my own points. I do not see RIV while searching today. I wonder what would have happened last year had I modified my stay to a night at RIV.

I can tell that my OTUP right now are from VGC because it shows up as a home resort while searching, but I don't have a contract there. I don't remember where they were from (RIV? but that still means they would've been unrestricted since I had booked elsewhere) last time.

Even if you could search RIV with OTU points, your resale contract would not show up as an option to book it.

Sorry I was unclear.
I was wondering if I tried to modify the reservation I'd booked with OTUP to a RIV reservation which could be entirely fulfilled with the OTUP what would've happened.

When you do a search or if you cancel something and do a search you will probably see the name of some rando contract to choose points from

Nope, home resorts show as SSR and VDH, which is what we own at and if I make a new reservation there is no "mystery" contract shown.

Interesting, that didnt happen to me when I purchased a couple months ago

I don't have experience with OTU points yet, but DVC refunded me some points which showed up as a different contract recently. And because of this extra "contract", I can make 4 waitlist requests instead of just 2 (I have only one contract). But later they fixed this loop hole. I wondered if the OTU points behave the same with respect to the waitlist functionality. I cannot see this extra contract in the dash board, it only shows up when I am booking something.

Typically, if you are blocked from booking RIV then it won’t show up online.

But, if it does, with OTU points, then the system would let you use the OTU points to reserve it.
