New Virgin entertainment system

I heard somewhere that Virgin were putting a new entertainment system into all their Orlando bound flights.

Has anyone had an update on this? We're not going until next May but from the sound of it the new system would certainly keep the kids happy for the whole trip!

We had one of the newer systems on our Miami flight at Easter (I believe there may be more than one system, so don't know if this is the same as the new ones planned for Orlando flights).

I haven't heard an update on when / if this will happen for the Orlando route.

We really enjoyed this access to such a range of entertainment, especially the individually controlled films (no more missing a vital scene because the person next to you wants to get up to go to the loo ). It was almost a case of wishing the flight was longer so that we could watch more great movies . Well, almost...

Virgin aircraft use one of 4 entertaniment systems:

Arcadia

Odyssey

Nova

and the newest Vort

I've only had planes with the Nova system on flights to Orlando from Gatwick (there are 5 off 747 400s with this system installed).

The Vort is the latest system and is fitted on all the Airbus 340s and 380 aircraft and 4 off 747 400s. It gives movies on demand and in economy you get a 9" screen.

Not sure if the older 747s will get upgraded, or just repleced with the new Airbus planes eventually. It costs around £2million to upgrade the system, so don't hold you breath

Arcadia and Odyssey have Nintendo games. The Nova system that's on most of the Gatwick flights does not
