This past weekend, Disney Merchandising began releasing the new Park Starz! Vinylmation collectible set. This group of figurines breaks free from the traditional Mickey-shaped mold and focuses more so on depicting some of the theme parks' beloved characters. The figures are boxed in a collectible tin and contain one of 11 from the set not including the sought after "mystery chaser."

Characters include the bride from Haunted Mansion, President Lincoln from Hall of Presidents, Jose from Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room, Ice Gator from Blizzard Beach, and more. Pleasure Island fans will particularly enjoy the mystery chaser from this series. Similarly, Mary Blair fans will be happy to know that a few figures inspired by her art will be included in Park Starz! first series.

Park Starz! will be released as limited edition figures throughout 2012. Edition sizes will vary, but you will have the opportunity to purchase them both at Disney Parks and the Disney Parks online store. What do you like about the new series? Which figure is your favorite?

Hmmm which one to buy first or do I get the entire collection....:surfweb:

I can't get over how cute they are. The only thing that surprises me is that they are not releasing the set in its entirety and instead are releasing the figures throughout 2012. I'm wondering if they anticipate this being a big seller for them??

Okay, those are really cute, but I am totally unfamiliar with vinylmation. How would you go about finding them and what is the "mystery chaser"?

Picked up a couple tins this past weekend at D-Street in Disneyland...one of them was the mystery chaser! Ended up with the chaser and Abraham Lincoln :thumbsup2

Love these! Especially the Small World ones!

I have a question though....I don't know alot about the Vinylmations, are these the first ones that aren't Mickey shaped with Mickey ears? I think all the ones I have seen are shaped like Mickey.

Lisa,

Yes, actually these are the first ones that "break the mold," so to speak. The designers, Thomas Scott and Casey Jones from Disney Design Group, wanted to do something different and focused more so on the characters themselves instead of transforming a Mickey shape into the character. I can't wait for December to get my hands on a few of these! :yay:

I was surprised to see Big Al. There's not much merchandising out there for him. I love all of them, but especially the mystery chaser and the gator from Blizzard Beach. I so cannot wait to get a few!!

I'm confused... This is series 1, and all 12 figures were released at the same time. Where did you hear that they weren't releasing the set in its entirety?

BTW, I really like these. I missed the release by a couple of weeks!

I think this is a game changer. I've never collected pins, but I can see why people would. I never, and will never understand what people see in the first run of vinylmation. I like Disney as much as anyone, but that Mickey mold kills 99.5% of the dolls dead. I think they are hideous.

That said, this form of vinylmation has me salivating to not just try one, but I'm pretty much going to try and get the whole set. I'm a huge fan of this type. Something very unique and relatively cheap (like the original vinylmation) but also free of the handcuffs of the Mickey mold. The possibilities of this are endless.

Hmm. Maybe I am mistaken? I read on Disney's event services page that their released would be staggered throughout 2012.

Really like these! We only have a couple of the traditional Vinylmation (a soccer theme and two Tron). This style appeals to me much more. We are pin collectors primarily but I can see a sideline collection coming on!

I agree that many pin collectors are becoming huge Vinylmation buffs. That's how I got started and now I'm hooked! :thumbsup2
