After our initial DCL cruise on the Magic last February, I ranked DCL food below Celebrity, Princess, HAL, and RCI. After returning from the 10-night Southern Caribbean cruise on the Wonder, I would say that DCL was better than the others that we have sailed except for Celebrity.
The new menus were great and the quality seem markedly better than we had on the previous cruise. So, this was a big plus and the only major negative that we had about DCL previously.
My only complaint is the level of the "music" on deck 9 during the day and during the deck parties. Do we really need to hear Brittany Spears blasting at 8:00 in the morning (or at any time for that matter)?
I'm 56 and a child of the 60s and like loud music. But, the deck parties were so loud as to be painful. Even on Castaway Cay, I could not swim out far enough to avoid it. It would be so much more peaceful if were dialed down a bit.
I saw a t-shirt on the ship that may apply to me: "If it's too loud, you're too old! I found that the Quiet Cove pool and the Promenade deck were the only place that one could have some relative peace on the open decks.
Aside from that, it was a great cruise and my overall view of DCL has moved up a number of notches. The crew appeared truly excited to be on an inaugural cruise and especially friendly and helpful.
