New VCR/DVD Players at BW

We just got back and while we were at the BW they delivered and set up a combo DVD/VIDEO player in the room. I'm assuming this was for the whole resort. Just thought I'd share the info.

We will be headin' to our first trip home and wanted to make sure that I brought either tapes or dvds for the baby to watch.

I just called BWV to confirm and the front desk told me that all rooms on the BWV side now have the combo DVD/VCR players. Not sure about the BWI side. This is great, now we dont have to bring the bulky tapes...

Can someone find out what formats the DVD player is capable of playing on one of their trips to BWV? I am most interrested if it plays SVCD's (MPEG -2) so I can watch my home/vacation movies. Also if it's not too much trouble! If there is audio/visual jacks so I can play my digital camcorder through it?

Ok I am all for my dues going for updates.. but what happens to all the VCR's removed from the BWV rooms? If they are sold does the proceeds reduce future dues? Do they throw them away. Anyone know the answer to that?

Lora beat me to this.....I was going to tell you all the same thing...Bad thing is they are not checking the vcr's and have been taking what ever movie is in it with them. We had been watching Tarzan and got back to the room VCR and Tape gone.

We just returned from the BWV and we were in a studio. there was not a DVD or a VHS player in the room at all. I figured that only 1-2 bdrm's got them.
We would have liked a DVD player as we had movies with us to watch on the computer on the plane.

Jaypd - sorry to hear about that... we happened to be in the room when they came and they did check ours. Also - we had a cable from our camcorder in the vcr and got that out also.

Disney-Kim - the studios don't have either as you discovered...another benefit to the 1 and 2 br units.

Sorry, I should have clarified that point. The front desk CM made sure to tell me that they only swapped out those rooms that previously had VCR's installed.

I think studios don't get any kind of player, but I could be wrong.

you are NOT wrong MARKRG. Studios never had VCRs. If you go to the webstie and look at the description/equipment in the rooms, VCR is absent in the studios.

Did anyone check to see if the change is occuring at the VWL ?

It would have been nice if they had put the old VCR's in the bedroom. It's always bugged me that I couldn't put the kids in the bedroom with a Disney tape while the grownups occupied the living area.

If the VCR's are in good shape maybe they can put them in the master bedrooms or in the studios.

I wonder if this is some of the stuff Doc said was coming soon.
