Here is some not so cherry news.
I saw the surgeon and because I started Chemo so soon after the surgery I am not healing the way I should. So now I have to take more antibiotics and do more dressing changes than ever. I should have known yesterday when I felt so good that the low point was coming. I went for a ride to see the leaves yesterday and it was so nice to get out. I have to go for debridements twice a week now.
I went to the Oncologist today. My Counts are very low and I am running a fever of 101. The Dr said "If you weren't a nurse I would admit you to the hospital and give you IV meds and transfusions." How can I make these Dr's realize I am not a nurse right now I m a patient. I told him the same and he said that if I felt worse or my temp went up then I should call the office and he will get me admitted but he thinks rest, Ibuprofen and antibiotics will help.
I also got a shot of Procrit to help build up the RBC's. Now remember, I hate needles and I had Neulast on Friday for the WBC's and today I needed Procrit. Ouchies, they both burn the tissue and hurt for hours.
My eyes feel like someone is sticking hot pokers in them and it only feels good when I shut them. My butt hurts from lying down so much but when I stand I get dizzy and weak. And I am wiped. This is not like being tired, it feels like someone zapped all my energy.
I will let you know when I feel better. Peggie

Peggie,
sorry to hear about how poorly you are feeling. hope it turns around and remember we love you,

:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:
Aw Peggie, I'm so sorry you're feeling so awful right now. I know these hugs don't help much, but know we are all praying and pulling for you.

I wish you were still feeling better...and you are right..you are not a nurse right not..you shouldn't have to deal w/ that..sometimes I think it is better that they don't know that you are....you hang in there..I'm sure glad that you at least got to enjoy the leaves...they must be lovely up there right now...

Sending hugs and prayers from both of us..Eddie is still keeping your speedo...

Peggie
I am so sad to here how things are going right now.

That energy sucking feeling is really crappy......and about the Doc saying "if you weren't a nurse"....well let me tell you, my head spun around when I read that.
How can you having medical knowledge make you better? Unbelieveable!

Hugs and more hugs sweetie and I hope you feel betterer very soon.

Hang in there Peggie!

I didn't know you were a nurse!
And you hate needles... what is
wrong with that picture?

Things will get better!
Low points or backpeddling
feelins are to be expected with
everything... keep smiling and
keep your heart going forward!
You'll be fine!

I never liked getting needles, but never had a problem sticking it into someone else! hehehehe

How does being a nurse mean that you don't need transfusions and IV meds? I wasn't aware that the RN after your name somehow magically created blood cell in you that you don't actually have?

Peggie, sweetie, maybe you need someone to do some advocating for you? Why don't you take Nurst Ratchett along to your next doctor's visit and let Richie go a few rounds with this doc???:smooth:

There is nothing more important for your recovery than for you to be in the least amount of pain possible. ::yes::

That is a bunch of cr** I am also a nurse...but when I am sick, at the Drs. or hospital...I am a patient...just like every other patient, and want to be treated that way...the idea that I wouldn't be admitted just because I was a nurse, is hogwash...

Nurse Ratchett to the rescue....

Donna is a nurse too? geez....THAT sure explains a lot!

Lynnie...I know what you are trying to say....all us nurses are just like Mary Poppins.."Perfect in everyway" Right???

Don't you agree Peggie????

That IS what you were trying to say Lynnie....right???

Something like......The only way Ed would be allowed out was in the care of a nurse! ::yes:: :smooth:

Robyn....that makes EVEN more sense...:hyper: i mean anyone who gets an award from Mickey himself, while wearing handcuffs, needs a nurse....
