New upcharge late afternoon, early evening safari ride, $169 plus tax, plus park admission

You'd think they would have learned their lesson the last time... Though I think I could see this going over better than the After Hours event.

Sounds like the sort of tour that you used to have to stay at AKL to buy.

There was always some demand for those tours, although this may result in fewer AKL resort bookings if it is a regular event.

It doesn't really have to "go over better" than the After Hours. They are probably only looking to sell 100 slots per day. And given the times being offered, it is easy to commit to. Much better than first thing in the morning or 1:00 a.m.. Assuming that the reviews are positive (as opposed to..."We didn't see anything more than we did on our 9:00 a.m. Kilimanjaro Safari Ride"), then this will sell well.

Sounds fun. I think this is one of those upsells you'll see a lot of couples doing. Seems to be marketed that way with the photos on the Disney page too. However, I don't see entire families signing up for this.

I'd suspect that with the included alcohol, this would skew more to adults as you say. We did WAT and loved it. We'd probably do this one as a family as well at some point. We've done several events as a whole family where alcohol is included (PFTS, Illuminations Dessert Party, SW Dessert party, etc). Every time there have been other kids there. I'd guess this would be similar in that way. Their minimum age is 8 for this one.

If it's available in Sept. I'd probably do it, I did the one that is only for AKL guests, which was twice as much and loved it. Of course, that offered appetizers and a 4 course meal with wine pairings at Jinko.

Like many of their upcharge events that include alcohol, the perceived value in this one will depend on how much you drink/if you drink at all.
I agree that this factors in for many. For us, it makes no difference at all. :) It's ALL subjective, but I've never seen an event including unlimited alcohol that I didn't think was worth it without the alcohol. Disney must just LOVE me... ... :rotfl:

That's a pricey experience. The same type of experience is offered at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park except on that you get to feed giraffes and rhinos and take photos with them and it's $110. To pay more than that and not get any animal interaction is a waste in my opinion.

If you have access to San Diego zoo which is on the opposite coast. Not everyone has access to San Diego Zoo....

It would cost my family $1300 to fly to San Diego or $150 to drive to Orlando. I'd rather "waste" my money on a Disney tour than fly myself to San Diego.

My family absolutely loved Wild Africa Trek, the highlight of our trip last summer, so wish I could squeeze this one in next month. We thoroughly enjoyed the WAT meal, so wondering if the evening offering would produce the same kind of view. Can't wait to hear reports back on this one!

If it is available in October I would definitely consider it for the 3 adult in my party. We did the Wild Africa Trek and loved it. This sounds like fun to me

We tried to book it for mid Sept this morning. CM said it is only scheduled to run through first week in September. Times he said were on the hour not on the 30. He said to try back in a few weeks for any updates. It is worth it to us because neither of us like heights so the original Trek isn't of interest. We had been waiting for something like this since we did the Breakfast Safari from AKL during the last month it was offered. The small number of people (max 12) on each vehicle made for an awesome experience.
