If I have 5day tickets that I paid full price for and want to upgrade them to APs while this promo is still going on will I get screwed and only get the promo value of the tickets and not the full price that I paid??

No, you'll be credited properly for 5 day tickets. The promo ones generally say "promo" directly on them.
