Welcome to DIS & VMK. WARNING: Once you start the virtual world owns you. You will at times feel like breaking your computer :badpc: and often wonder where the sunshine went. :sunny: But hey, welcome to our world. :grouphug:

First off:vmk name: TrishaDiva
wish to change so will probably start new account-every name I put in was taken so I just kept plugging stuff in that didn't sound "old". It's not me.

I was finally tapering off my computer hours, getting the basics of Jan. WDW vacation planned. I stumbled across VMK and thought it would be fun for my 12 yr old, partly b/c I want to keep him off myspace which his friends are probably getting into since he's in 8th grade. Hours later I've decided that introduction may have been a mistake. He argues with me on school nights at 10 PM! Now 10 yr dd is playing, which is fine, but she broke my rule after day one that she must dress her age. Any insight on how to handle that, moms? She asks everyone she doesn't even talk to to be her friend and then replies to every message sent if I tell her to get off before she'll get off. With a friend list of a hundred, that's a lot of messages to send out if just 20 tell you to meet them somewhere. 7 yr dd wants to play now but I tell her she's too young cuz I thought it was designed for 10-14 yr olds (and addicted adults) and she wouldn't be able to type quick enough or get the trade stuff and would frustrate people.

Back to me. My husband is ready to lock the computers up, but I assure him I'm toning down and ready to clean house again. :guilty: I played vmk a bit to check it out but got a little bored since I don't really care about being friends w/ 12 yr olds or whether they think I'm "cute" or not. But NOW...I find I can have ADULT friends with REAL lives and I only have two weeks to meet you all on vmk before school lets out and the kiddies are on during the day and I don't know who's adult or not!

I'm posting this here since I'm new to vmk too so it's sorta a new thread.
Is there a way, other than men with their beards, to tell that women or men are more mature, not teeny boppers looking for virtual dates? I see you have a meeting place in the morning so that can be helpful. Now I just need to come up with a better name. :confused3

Hi and welcome to the other newbies anyway. :wave2:

Hey there :) Met you the other day with Mad... now that I know you can catch ghosts, we'll have to lure you away from fireworks and to the Mansion ;) Muahahahaha!! Anyways, welcome to the Dis!! :) Love your title, SilverRose, but I am partial to silver hehe and silver roses!

And hello Caribbound, if you wanted to meet other adults, it's great that you came to the DIS :) Many of the frequent posters are adults. Although some (like me) are so silly that sometimes you will question if the 5 year old in my head has completely taken over ;) I hope you enjoy your stay here!

:welcome:

I thought I was doing this for my DS 8. He is to young and now I am addicted. I went to DLR and had to do the in park quests. I keep helping him earn magic and stuff.

But I work during the day so I seem to only find kids. How do you know if they are adults?

there's no way to tell. Maybe we should suggest it :cool1:
A little icon for those over 30
what's your vmk name and I'll watch for you?
I decided I'll try to set up my new name as caribbound or a version of that

can you tell I like warm weather? I live in WI and it's a beautiful day (finally) here today! :woohoo:

Welcome!

If they ask about taken, or mummies and babies, it is a kid talking (or maybe an adult with issues). Maturity shows with language and behavior.

My DS6 plays. He knows he isn't allowed to trade or have anyone on his friends list except me and his older brother. I limit both boys electronics time everyday but especially on school days. It helps that we are all competing for time on the faster laptop, lol!

Only having sons I haven't thought about age appropriate clothing. Does it matter so much what her character wears? Or maybe let her wear whatever she wants, so long as she wears the Goofy hat, too. :rotfl2:

WELCOME Star to the DIS Boards!! And so glad I was able to meet you for the first time last night in Mad4WDW's room!!

Hope to see you around, girl!
