Good afternoon everyone!
Someone on another board suggested I stop over here so I did and I have loved reading all of the great info!
I am planning a trip for my son (8) and I Sept 30 - Oct 7. DH will be in Texas for training for 8 months before a year long deployment to Iraq. So this is a something our son and I can look forward to!
Anyway... I have a few questions. I have put in requests with 3 different agencies. The best so far in from Our Laughing Place. Has anyone here had any experience with them? So far I am very impressed, but I wanted any feedback if possible.
I am looking at staying at a Value (son't need much but a bed and a shower) and I was thinking about Pop.... yay or nay?
I have a list a mile long of places to eat.... any of these a "can't miss"?
Whispering Canyon Hollywood & Vine (Fantasmic package) LeCellier Rose and Crown also thinking about a dinner show, the HDD sounds the best so far also for a character breakfast: Crystal Palace, Chef Mickey's or Donald's Breakfastosaurus

I know this is alot to dump right away but I need help. I am a HUGE fan of planning.

Thanks in advance for all of your help.

 Welcome to the dis. You have found the right spot. The infor you can find here is great. I think any of the character meals you choose your child will have a great time at. :thumbsup2

Welcome...I have 2 8yo sons...your son will love it :goodvibes
I have heard of Laughing Place
www.dreamsunlimited.com is very good and will rebook if a code comes out that you can use. They will also book all your dining reservations.
POP is great...a little noisy/big for me. Have you thought of POR or PORFQ? But if price is the driving feature, then by all means do value. I just like the little bit of extra services you get at a moderate vs. a value. I have done check in with my boys(and no DH) and it is just really nice to get help with the bags etc.
Are your dates a little flexible? There is a free dining package a little earlier. Also I do not know if you can qualify to stay at Shades of Green(I am not military), but it wouldn't hurt to ask. Good Luck, I hope you have a great trip.

As far as dining goes, I would not hike all the way out to WC unless you were near there.
Chef Mickey (b) :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
HDDR(d) :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
Rose& Crown 1/2 :thumbsup2
FAntasmic(HV) :thumbsup2 or HBD :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
I also like
The Plaza at MK
Le Cellier
Beaches and Cream
Beirgarten
Crystal Palace(b)
1900 Park fare(b/d)

Welcome to the DISboard. I have never stayed at any of the value resorts, only CBR and POFQ, which were both great. I would also check out the free dining option as Shades of Green, which is for military only.

The dining you suggested is good. If you are into character meals you might also check out the breakfast character at the Beach Club resort - Cape May or their clam bake for dinner. There is also a character meal at the Garden Grill in Epcot. The Sci-Fi Dine In is also a fun place, the tables are like cars and it is in a "dark" drive-in with science fiction trailers of like "The Blob" etc. (at MGM)

We did the HDDR dinner show on our last visit and we also have done the Luau, now called the Spirit of Aloha and my DS16 much prefers the HDDR to the luau.

Hope you have a great time and thanks to your husband for the service that he gives to this country and the sacrifice that you and your family make.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I have decided to go ahead and take the trip duing the free dining. It just makes the most sense to me.
We do not get the free dining at SOG, so we won't stay there this time.

I can't wait to go and I hope to stay around the boards. Looks like there is a TON of information to be found!

Thank you very very much. Makes me feel really good to know he is appreciated.
Getting emotional, so I'll just say thanks (again)

Welcome :yay: Welcome :yay:

There are a few topics under resorts that have alot of info on Pop.
We usually stay at a Moderate or Deluxe and this time are trying Pop. We are not in the room very much and for us it was a $400 difference between value & moderate... For us that is 2 airline tickets...

Welcome to Dis. You will find these boards very helpful in planning a great trip to WDW. October is one of the best months to go, great weather! :thumbsup2

A bed and shower is all we need as well and we love the Pop Century. Give it a try.

Welcome to the DIS!:thumbsup2:
