I decided to skip the food plan this year and see how we make out. We are going for 12 days. I have an ADR for almost every day. I booked mostly late lunches, a couple dinners, and a b'fast. In WDW, I typically don't eat much dessert, since I'd rather a Dole Whip or ice cream in the parks. I like to order appetizers and will often get a cocktail.

How do you guys feel about the TiW? Better deal overall? Considering the way I booked our ADR's and how we like to eat, do you think we will come out ahead?

I am booked at Sanaa and at Paradiso. (Both new, neither on list of participating restaurants- any chance they could honor it?)

Is it just as easy to get the card down there as ordering it ahead of time? I have AP vouchers in hand right now, don't know if I can even order the TiW card now w/out activating my vouchers first.

30 days to go!

TIA!

We have used TIW for the last couple years and really think it makes a difference. We eat TS for lunchs/dinners and we usually order drinks with dinner. The discount really helps for us.

For 4 adults we saved $240 this last trip in 6 days..now we did just renew the card so take $75 off for the card...but we will use it again on our May trip...so possibly another $240....

so almost $500 in savings in 2 trips for 4 adults...well worth the $75:teacher:

Thanks for breaking it out for me! I feel better about the decision to get it now.

Do you buy it down there or do you order it ahead of time?

Good to know Sanaa will take it! Do the resort bars typically take it? I am hoping the new tequila bar in Mexico will take it, too.

La Cava del Tequila does not accept it at this time. We're all hoping they will in the future.

Most lounges in the resorts and parks do accept it.

We've found TiW to be well worth it for us, more so than the dining plan. My DH's big "fear" with the DDP is that he feels like it will force us to overeat. We feel like TIW gives us much more flexibility and doesn't "force" us to get dessert if we don't want it...we can usually get the card to pay for itself in just one trip too.

I also think the TiW is great. I also don't like the DDP (except maybe the QSDP), since I don't like to feel like I have to make an ADR or leave money on the table. Or that I have to eat more than I wanted to in order to get my "money's worth."

This last trip brought it home to me - I caught some sort of bug my last two days. I didn't have an appetite anymore. All the money I would have "saved" on the DDP would have been lost.

TiW has none of those problems. At some restaurants I ordered an appetizer or two for my dinner. At others I had dessert. Sometimes I had dinner at one place and dessert at another.

I'm going to be very sad when my AP expires and I no longer have the right to get the TiW!

On our most recent trip earlier this month we bought the TIW card. We saved enough during that one trip to cover the cost of the card plus some. Lie a PP said it gives you more freedom than the DDP. We always ended up overeating on the DDP. Also, you can use it at some CS locations: Flame Tree, Pizzafari, and some of the dining rooms at some of the value resorts. Very much worth it!

Do you buy it down there or do you order it ahead of time?

You can do either. When I first purchased it, I got it on property. Mine expires at the end of this month and so I'll be calling to renew. Disney will send the credit vouchers and then I'll exchange them during my next trip in December. By purchasing them ahead of time, then I've locked in the current price.

Personally, I like to have most of my trip paid for before I get to the parks. So by getting the card ahead of time it's one less thing I have to worry about budgeting for.

Definitely worth it, especially if you order drinks with dinner! :thumbsup2

I purchased mine at the same time I exchanged my AP vouchers.

We've done it for the last 3 or 4 years. We are the same way. The dining plan would be way too much food for us and I usually make one reservation a day and then we snack on what we want otherwise. I think it's a great deal for us and well worth it.

Us too. We eat 1 meal a day mainly snack the rest of the time. Plus with a 3 year old we can sometimes share meals. We bought ours at the MK when we bought our AP's. Very easy and we love TiW!

We used the T in W card and found it worth it. It is especially worth it when staying at the Values since you can use it in their food courts. We also purchased our mugs with it. I was surprised that we received the 20% off there.

Actually we had the T in W card when we had the free $500 giftcard offer. It was better than free dining for us. We ate in a few 2 TS restaurants and did the Hoop de Doo. I think we did a lot better getting and ordering exactly what we wanted and getting a discount!
