Thanks!!

It is fun and addicting. The best thing to do is buy some on ebay for around $3 to $4. Pins in Disney run around $6. You can trade with any CM that has a lanyard on. The rules vary from park to park and CM to CM. Basically they have to trade at least one pin. The pin must say Disney on the back and must be in good condition. They can't turn you away if you meet these requirements. Sometimes they will trade you more than one pin. Green lanyards are for kids only. Some say that is up to 12 years old. Some will tell you up to 9 years old. When you see a CM with a lanyard you just go up to that CM and ask if you can look at their pins.

Why do they have "kid only" trading lanyards? What is it about me being in my 30s that make me unworthy of trading from the green lanyards?

I never knew about the green lanyards thing, that's interesting. I usually buy pins to trade on Ebay also, usually for around $3 each. I try to get them in groups of four to save on shipping. It's alot of fun, I think I enjoy it more than my daughter does.

So the kids have a chance at trading for 'good' pins, like cast lanyard and limited editions, that are often scooped up by adults.

LegoMom: Just a side note, you may want to stay away from buying Sedesma pins if your sole purpose is to trade them. They are not quite the same quality as pins from the parks and Disney Stores and some people have had trouble trading them in the past, though many are pretty cute.

Sedesma pins are no longer tradeable in the parks. If you buy off of ebay and the seller does not say "No pins from Spain or Sedesma" in the terms of the auction then email them and ask them to look at the back of the pins for the words Spain or Sedesma.

I bought a lot of 25 pins for $74 from Ebay to give our group of 6 (3 adults, 1 child) a start on trading. I got an excellent selection of really nice pins lots of which are limited editions and a few full sets from a very honest seller. If you're interested PM me and I'll send you his ebay id and you can look up his auctions. He almost always has a buy it now for lots of 25 pins going. His shipping was extremely cheap where some people try to price gouge you for $10 or $20 on shipping.

We plan to buy lanyards when we arrive and then split up our 25 pins and go out and trade! My 4 year old is really looking forward to it.

If you haven't read this: http://psc.disney.go.com/eventservices/index.html

It's the official Disney Pin Trading site and has all the info you will need to get started. Good Luck!

DD4 is looking forward to trying this out also. She has been collecting them for the past few months and is really excited!

This is not correct. I have asked Jim Matthews, who has been in charge of Epcot Pin Central and other Epcot pin locations for five years specifically about the Sedesma pins within the last month). He said they are a properly licensed Disney pin source, and their pins are tradeable with cast members.

Many people do not want them, but if you are turned down by a CM ask the person to contact a pin trading manager for more information.

It's good to hear this from an official source. I guess my attitude towards it is still that it might be more trouble than it is worth. Many of my pin collecting friends in Southern CA have had no luck trading Sedesmas at DL for the most part of this summer and I've seen so many rumors floating around about it.

I do have a few Sedesma pins so maybe I'll try my luck at WDW in November :)
