New to me converting virtual queue

Yesterday I only used the DAS one time and it was to convert virtual queue to DAS. I had put my phone away before getting in the line to convert at guardians. They said they needed to see the DAS on my phone before they could change it over. Previously when I needed to convert it they just tapped all of our bands twice. This time I just had to show him the das tile on my app and then he tapped our bands.
I am assuming I don’t have to do that when I use it to access the lightning lane but I didn’t ride much yesterday except living the land and figment and soarin when there was no wait at all and we used standard queue.
