Hello! I just received my Magic Bands and I have some questions.

I am arriving next week and doing two days in the Parks but staying OFFSITE, and then cruising for a week. Can I still use these Magic Bands then for my two offsite days or do I have to wait until a week later when I check into Caribbean Beach Resort to start using them?

I bought my tickets from Undercover Tourist and linked them to MDE, but how do I now link them to my Magic Bands?

Thank you!

Everything is linked to your MDX account.

Use your MBs as soon as you arrive to enter the parks and FP lines - they provide the link to all your data in your account.

Wait, you mean these ARRIVED already linked?? Before they sent them they looked up my personal MDE and linked each band (there are three of us) and I don't have to do anything at all? And I can use them right away, even being offsite?

You ordered them in your MDE account. And you personalized them for each member of your party. All the ticket & fastpass info you have in your MDE account was linked to them when you personalized them.

Well, I didn't order them through my MDE, I had to do it by phone because they hadn't arrived and I am leaving next week. So I called and they said my order had gotten canceled when I switched hotels. Sigh. So it was done over the phone. But they were personalized with color and names, so does that mean they still arrived already linked?? I don't have to type in that long number on the back of the Mickey Head into MDE?

If it really did come already activated, will it still include the two offsite days, and not just my Caribbean Beach days?

Is there a way to check to see if it's activated or not? I just don't want any nasty surprises at the gate...

Yes, your resort reservation number leads to the info in your MDE account. So it was linked when they were ordered, no matter how they got ordered. You can see all your MBs in your MDE.

If you have tickets for those offsite days, yes the MBs will work to get you in the park, for fastpass use & photos. They will not work for charging at shops & restaurants. That only works when you are staying at a resort, because you are actually charging back to your room, not directly to your credit card.

As long as your MB's are listed and active in your MDE they will take the place on any ticket you have attached to your account. As you can see we have multiple MB's active from previous trips. We love changing colors. The card shown is our annual pass. That card also works anywhere tickets are used. The number on the inside of the band should match the user and be shown in your MDE. I obviously deleted my numbers out.

Um...where would I see this is MDE? Cause I don't... This is why I worry.

Hover over "My Disney Experience" then go to "My Magicbands and Cards". They should be there if they are attached to you. If you buy tickets direct and order MB's from Disney they automatically attach. If you buy MB's from another source (NEVER buy used) such as Disney stores or another reputable source, you have to link them to your MDE. Use the "Link" option at the bottom of this page and enter the MB ID on the back of the band. I believe you stated you bought your tickets from Undercover Tourist. If you got a hard plastic card from them, it will have to be linked as well. At this time, Disney has no idea you have tickets or MB's unless you link them manually.

I may have missed this in the other comments, but make sure you have added your tickets to MDE also. Since you bought those from a broker you have to manually add them to your account. If you have already added then, then your bands should be ready to use with them.

Yes, I added my tickets to MDE a month ago. The Magic Bands were just ordered on Sunday and arrived four days later (thank goodness as I leave next week!). They appear on MDE and say 'active'. Does 'active' literally mean there are tickets attached? So after we go and use up the five day hopper that's attached the bands will say 'inactive' meaning there are no tickets attached to them? And then if we buy more tickets next year and add them to MDE would my current Magic Bands automatically find them and say 'active' again?

I USED to be a WDW expert but stopped going when they started FP+ and went to Disneyland instead with its fabulous old school FP and now the wonderful Maxpass. This trip was very unexpected and I haven't had much time to learn the new system and have never in my life seen a Magic Band in person. Lots to learn in a short amount of time whilst also making logistical plans, as well as planning the non Disney parts of my vacation.

Thank you ALL for your help!!!

You bands will be active until you actually go in and de-activate them. You only need to do that when you end up having a whole bunch linked and active at once. It sometimes causes glitches. I usually have about 20 bands active at the same time and have almost never had a problem so do not worry about it.

Think of the MB as a key to the filing cabinet. There is nothing actually on the key, it is just how you unlock the cabinet. All of the information is inside the cabinet (your MDE account).

You can have multiple keys at once and the information inside the cabinet can change but the relationship between the keys and the cabinet will not change.

You bands will still work on your next trip when you have new tickets attached and the new bands you will get for that trip (if staying onsite) will also work.

No, this is not what it means. The magic bands just relay information from your MDE account to touch points at Disney World. So if there are tickets in your MDE account, the magic band relays that info when you touch the entry points at a park. If you have a valid fastpass, the magic band relays that when you touch the fastpass point at a ride. If you have a credit card authorized during your on site stay, the magic band relays that when you touch a store or restaurant reader.

They continue to be able to relay that info as long as they are active. All magic bands stay active unless you specifically make them inactive. Each band is linked to a specific person. All magic bands linked to the specific person relay the same information. So those of us who have more than 1 magic band often take more than 1 on a trip & use them interchangeably.

I know what you mean. When we first got our Magic bands, I was confused. Relate them to a hotel room key - you need one to open your room, you can pay with them if you have a credit card linked to them, and you need them to get and use your fast passes.

You can pay with them if you are staying on-site. They are also your ticket to get into the park through the tapstyles.
