I am planning a trip back to Disney in September 09 - at least that is tentative. Less crowds but still warm - all that stuff. I am now traveling with four children - all of whom "count" so I have to do this the most cost effective way. I usually stay in the park but don't know if that is possible with six or if it is possible financially. I anticipate this trip costing 5000.00 from start to finish. We would love to camp at Fort Wilderness but don't own our own camper - any thoughts about that? I guess there probably aren't a lot of tips to save money when eating in the park or buying your park tickets but any tips on anything would be greatly appreciated. Either respond to this thread or PM me. Thank you so much for your time and thoughts....

Can someone tell me why I have Disney on the brain and I think about it at least daily???? :)

Honestly, I would say the MOST cost-effective would be two rooms at POP Century, or All-Stars --you'd get two bathrooms and with 4 kids getting ready in the A. M. that would be a plus! AllStars Suite would work also.

Another option for staying in FW is renting a camper. We are doing this from a member on the camping boards. Her name is Tina..and she lives in Florida..not far from Disney. She rents her 5th wheel. They place it onsite for you. It comes complete with all your linens and towels..(just like the cabins do..but many of the national chains don't provide that service). They set up your water/sewer connections and put out your awning. They provide EVERYTHING you would need to make your site enjoyable. Her trailer is set up to accomodate a nice sized family. There are photos of the interior and exterior, along with a floorplan for you to view. While we own a travel trailer, my husband doesn't really want to tow it to Florida. Renting a unit is a great compromise for us. I get to stay in FW, and he doesn't have to tow some 1100 miles!
We have stayed in the cabins previously, and while they are lovely, the are quite expensive. Depending on the time of year..well over $300.00 a night(we've stayed in the Wilderness Lodge for less), and I found them a bit removed from the campground amenities(pool/Meadow Trading Posts..marina area). The actual camping "loops" are much more accessible to these areas. You may want to take a look at her web site..and also you will find lots of information regarding FW on the camping board..further down the main page of this site. The people there are incredibly informative as to your options, and what your experience will be.
Here's Tina's site (she is known as "TinaH" on the boards. If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail or private message me. There are several people on the campging board who will be renting her camper sooner than I am(we're going in August) and you'll likely be able to read their review.

Oh..here's her site..: http://www.campatthefort.com/gallery.asp
