Hi Everyone We are very excited about being dvc members We are thinking about doing the member cruise next year but don't have enough points being we are cruising for this Christmas. Can you pay cash for a member cruise? If so how much approx would it be for a cat 11 or 12 cabin? Thanks in advance!

Here are the cash prices for the 2008 DVC Member Cruise. I would expect 2009 to increase in cost:

Cash Price Per Person (Based on double occupancy)

Cat 3 $2,264
Cat 4 $1,384
Cat 5 $1,195
Cat 6 $1,147
Cat 7 $1,081
Cat 8 $992
Cat 9 $944
Cat 10 $916
Cat 11 $869
Cat 12 $869

The 2009 Member cruise sets sail on 9/13/09. Booking date is Saturday November 2nd. You don't book through DCL, you book through Member Services and they open up on that Saturday morning just for the cruise booking. You can book using points, cash or a combo. Since it is a charter if you book using cash it has to be paid in full that day (not with a down payment and payment over time like on a regular cruise).

Hope this helps!

Wonder if they will have restrictions on who can book on November 2.

IIRC, for this last one, when the booking window first opened, they only took bookings from members who hadn't taken a Members Only Cruise before.

Actually that strategy was for the 2007 Member Cruise and it pretty much flopped. For the 2008 cruise everyone called in the same day (with the exception of those already booked by adding on during the previous years cruise).

So, if DH and myself took our 2 DD's (ages 6 and 3 by then), is there a different price for the kids occupying the same cabin? We've never done a cruise before and we are new DVC members....with only 100 points, so cruising on points is not an option.

Also, as far as the "members only" goes...could I (a member) take a friend (not a member) instead of DH (reluctant member)?

Thank you...great info...Do you happen to also have the point chart for the member cruise?

Anytime you book DCL through DVC Member Services, you will need to pay the cash portion in full at time of booking. Also, for past Member Cruises they have waived the $95 booking fee. Also tips have been included in the past on the Member Cruises which is a big savings, too.

Yes, you can take a non DVC friend with you! I will check around for the children's pricing when I get home from work this evening.

Also will look for this tonite after work. Have to schedule my internet around Dancing With The Stars, however! LOL!!

It's a 4-nighter and out of PC. We had a great time when we went in 2006; couldn't do 2007 or 2008 and unfortunately can't do 2009 either (off on the Magic on 9/12). We met great folks (hiya, Mary and Mark (and everyone else!)) and still chat with many to this day.

I'm trying to convince Marc that we need to go again....we just need to find the time....so many voyages to take, never enough vacation time.

Wow - glad I read this. I was planning on putting a deposit if I can get a reservation on Nov. 2nd. First Member Cruise for us. So i need to pay in full on that day.

Good to know.

Advice from someone who has taken 5 DVC Member cruises...

Be ready with all of your information for everyone in your party who will be cruising

Plan on spending quite of bit of time trying to get through to MS on 11/2

Plan on spending a longer than normal time on hold once you even get through to MS.

You can only book the cruise portion of the trip on the call in day such as no ME or WDW room reservations.

Last, plan on having a great time! These cruises are fantastic and very fun talking to all of the DVC folks. Obviously we like them since we have taken 5 of them so far.

Good Luck to each of you!!!:dance3: :dance3:

I know that the cruise has to be paid in full at the booking time. but does anyone know if they have the same cancellation and refund policy as the regular DCL .Just in case an emergency came up and the trip had to be canceled.

Unless I am reading the calendar wrong Novemenber 2 is a sunday not a saturday as an earlier post said

You are correct and I just noticed this earlier today. So either we heard wrong while on board OR they are doing booking on Sunday this year instead of Saturday's like in the past. It may have to do with Saturday being a busy time for them now while years ago they weren't even open on Saturday except for special events like this. Guess we'll just have to wait and see the official announcement for call in date and also for the points needed.

Hey Michael! We'd love to cruise with you guys again. Save some time for 2010 as one of the rumors is that it is going to be a 7 day Member Cruise. Wouldn't that be nice?

Cash wise yes the cancellation policy is the same. For using points they become reservation points (I believe that is the correct term) and cannot be used at DVC resorts. They would need to be used for other things (like WDW resorts, another cruise, etc.).

i plan on takening the members cruise next year points or cash not sure as of yet but will be on the ship

Are the member cruises different from regular cruises?
