New to DVC and chose Poly as home resort--bad idea?

And that's why I think it will be a separate booking category. I think people will find times when they will find"Standard View-Studios" available to book but not, "Standard View- Adjoining Studios", so if they want to go together, they will have to understand that they won't be next to each other.

I really don't think they could do so. This is not the same as having a 2 Br as a single legal villa that is locked off into 2. This would be no different than having two BR unit together and having that be a booking cat. From what i can see the only ways they could have this would be to have had them as a 2 component lockoff up front or from the fixed week component but only if they also had fixed units AND one bought them side by side that connected. And in all honesty it's not a problem that really needs any other solution except for those to avoid the resort that can't take the risk. I'm sure we'll see it posted from someone all up in arms they didn't get it and I'll state now for the record, I'll be less than sympathetic for that exact complaint because everyone either knew or should have known it was a risk and not a guarantee.

MS is already stating it will not be a guaranteed booking category for adjoining studios. You will just make a request.

I will say I'm shocked as they have really tried to sell the Poly as a destination for families with the connecting studios. That said, doesn't matter to me personally, but if I did buy in with enough points to get connecting studios I'd be pretty ticked that they weren't a guaranteed booking category.

Buyer beware, they sold THV as a 3 bedroom for the cost of a 2 bedroom, after selling out the raised the points required.

They advertise all of the magical world wide destinations where you can use your points, not telling you that availability is limited and expensive.

Disney is in the business of selling DVC contracts and like all purchases, the buyer needs to do their homework prior to buying.

I agree with the caveat emptor statement. I was just saying, the way DVC has promoted it, I would've expected the connecting studios to be a booking category, but as you say, they are in the business of selling the points.

We just got back from our first stay at BWV in a 1-BR (purchased via resale). DH was adamant that we would never use the kitchen or in-room laundry, but 1-BR was the only thing available when we booked. You know what? We used the kitchen every single morning for making coffee, DD8 had cereal, frozen waffles, pancakes, I kept cheese and crackers on-hand to have with wine on the deck at night, and I had a couple of frozen pizzas in case anyone was hungry. It was great! Even better was that we came home with ALL CLEAN CLOTHES, even DH did his laundry.

We were total monorail snobs and stayed at the Poly 4 years in a row. We switched to the BW last year when the Poly was starting construction, and we fell in love. Honestly, we didn't miss the monorail at all, but we also didn't have the stroller this year. Point being - you won't always have a stroller.

If you love the Poly, go for it! But definitely consider BLT or other resorts that have committed 2 BR.
