I'm a new disneyholic, I have been the past 3 years to WDW. We are now moving to the Calgary, far far away from my beloved WDW

But I just realized that we are closer to Disneyland :cheer2:

So I need help in planning a future surprise trip for my kids :goodvibes

We are a family of 5, 3 boys including an very sweet autistic :earsboy:.

here are my questions:

-Is disneyland as accomodation for special needs, offering a GAC?
-We usually stay at the value resort at WDW, that is the equivalent? is there rooms for 5 people?
-what are the low seasons?
-can you rent double strollers? at what cost?
-is everything in walking distance (hotel to parks) or is there a disney transportation system?
-in your opinion what is better staying on or off site?
-best hotel for young boys 7 & 9?

anything else you can think of :p

You are supposed to say "Hi, my name is Blanche. And I am a Disneyholic." :rotfl:

Now where was the link for that 12 step program??? ;)

I have not had to deal with that challenge and will let others help you on this one.

There are only three Disney hotels at DLR. First, the benefits of staying Disney at DLR are not as great as at WDW. You will find lots of folks around here who stay Disney at WDW but offsite at DLR. Most all of the Disney hotels can handle five people.

There are no equivalent Disney hotels to value. They are all moderate/deluxe.

There are some hotel links here that may help: "HydroGuy's Hotel Rule" www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1199862

You might look at Candy Cane Inn or Marriott Fairfield near DLR. There are lots of decent hotels nearby. Personally we have converged on the Best Western Park Place Inn (BWPPI) because their mini-suites can handle 6 people and they are closest off-site.

Understand a big hotel difference between WDW and DLR. For hotels like BWPPI the walking distance from the DLR gates to your hotel room door is less than it is from the WDW parks' gates to the bus or boat stop pickup out front. ::yes::

-what are the low seasons?
Pretty much same as WDW. Low season is January to mid-March, mid-April to May, Sept to mid-Nov.

HOWEVER

Be forewarned that low season at DLR has more serious drawbacks than WDW because of the visitor mix. See

"What You Should Know About Off-Season at DLR" www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=18462889

-can you rent double strollers? at what cost?
Ahh, strollers. Haven't needed one for 10+ years (thank heaven!) and I will also let this one pass onto to other with more up-to-date knowledge.

-is everything in walking distance (hotel to parks) or is there a disney transportation system?
If you choose the right hotel, everything is walking distance. The only Disney transportation is the monorail which serves Disneyland Hotel and Paradise Pier and drops off inside Disneyland (in Tomorrowland). But it is a tossup whether it is a time saver or not because you walk from these hotels faster in many cases than waiting for the monorail.

-in your opinion what is better staying on or off site?
Depends on budget. See earlier link I provided on hotels. Staying offsite is not a big drawback at DLR.

-best hotel for young boys 7 & 9?
Depends on time of year and desirability of pool, etc. Our personal point of view is that at DLR we spend very little time at our hotel and as long as it is clean and quiet, we are good. Since we usually go in summer a decent swimming pool is a must.

Lots of answers to questions you have not yet thought of can be found here:

Have a great trip! pixiedust:

DLR does not have double strollers. (WDW has double strollers, but DLR does not.)
