Hi everyone, I was wondering if someone can help me out with some information. We are coming to florida on November 11 through the Childrens Wish Foundation of Canada. My daughters wish includes 3 days at Disney, 1 day at Sea World, and 2 Days at Universal Studios. Could someone tell me some places to eat and shop around Star Island Resort? I have heard that things in the theme parks like food and souveiners are very expensive. Where is the best places to shop for your money and the best affordable food at the parks?

Thanks

We have been to Disney twice through Make a Wish....We have never had to worry about anything as far as money for food or souveniers...Everything was taken care of and more.

Hello

I am pleased to say that although not from make a wish but through a world of dreams, we are going to disney world for a week on nov 25 to dec 2! We are responsible for the travel to and from the airport, food, travel insurance, meals and spending money...our family of six is going. I am in the same boat as you except longer wait and we are not staying onsite we are at the marriott residence inn LBV.
Please email me if you like...my daughter is three and she and I are both blind. She has OCA and retinal dystrophy.
Countdown is 27 days!!

Hi
I am just curious as to why you are not staying at "Give Kids the World"
We are a Childrens Charity in the UK and all our familys stay there, a very magical place for special children. Our families only stay at a Disney Hotel if they are full.

We are not staying at give children the world because our daughter is not terminally ill and our reservations were made for us by the agency...

When my sons were given their dream trips to Disney we stayed at Give Kids the World in Kissimmee....Place is great...Breakfast and dinner served every day....characters come over on special days....many things planned for kids on site....all free.....Also, given passes to all parks, a rental car, and spending money. we paid for nothing including airfare. Anyone interested should ask their family doctor for referral for terminally or chronically ill child.

Many years ago, my daughters wish was granted through Starlite Foundation. Our family of 5 went for the week. We extended our trip for a few days at our expense, but everythng was taken care of . Even spending money for the kids. I am happy to say even though she will always have a type of MD (dermatomyositis) she is doing great. Is a teacher, awife and a mom.

It is so nice to hear that you enjoyed Give Kids the World Village.
We send Special Children from the UK to Florida via our Charity and have been for the last 13 years.
They spend a week at the village and a week in one of our homes. When not in use for our special families we rent it out, not sure if I can put a link but here goes dialadream All is paid for by us airfare, for the whole family, accomodation and park passes etc. I know that Disney play a large part at the village, along with universal and various other companies, to make it great . We visit when we are over and it is such a lovely place full of happy people.

:welcome: to the dis. I hope you have a magical trip. :wizard: I hope you get meals provided like some posters said. We have taken food in to the parks to save money before. I don't think the policy has changed on that but it was certainly O.K. with Disney if we brought food in. It was stated on their website that food in a small cooler was O.K. We used a small soft cooler that fit in a locker. We didn't do this for every meal but at least part of the time to save money.

Take some food in with you. Pick up some bread and peanut butter and jelly. Go to a store and get snak size chips and cookies. Also get some juice boxes and water. We ate off site for breakfast at a buffet, so the kids could fill up. After we came home from parks we would hit McDonalds or order a pizza and sit by the pool. We only got icecream at the park. We gave our kids so much for the day and they could spend it anyway they wanted. That stopped us from saying NO to them all the time. They learned real quick to make good choices. Have a great trip.

Welcome to the DIS! Have a great trip.
