New to Board - New to DVC(hopefully)

Just went under agreement on a 200 point BWV. Hope to get through the ROFR. Have stayed at the Boardwalk Inn Concierge level 3 times and for the money we have paid, it seemed like a no brainer to buy a DVC. We love the location. A quick question on II. How easy/difficult is it to get some of their premier destinations. Atlantis Harborside in the Bahamas or Four Seasons in Carlsbad. Has anyone ever tried. Oh by the way long time lurker here who finally signed up. Thanks.

Hi Disneymom of 3 ,I am a mom of 4.... welcome to the world of DVC. We just got through ROFR with a small contract to OKW, we are waiting for the Grand Californian to come up then we will buy the remainder of our points there.

Okay as far as II, I don't have any experience yet but I asked TONS of questions on these boards about that before I bought. Most people told me not to buy DVC with the intent to trade out to II. Requests most often must be made 2 years in advance and then owners of those properties must agree to a trade with DVC with apparently isn't that hot out there in the world of non DVCers!!

I am sure many more will have opinions and many have had good experiences. We hope to try to trade out down the line. My kids range in ages 13-5 so we want to make sure we go places everyone is happy! My teen basically will be the one that gets bored with Disney..... So, we shall see.

Good Luck with ROFR, it took us about 3 weeks to get through.

I have read some positive trip reports of DVC members using the World Passport Collection. I am sure someone will chime in.

But I will say that the best value for DVC points is at DVC resorts.

I know how everyone feels about only using at Disney but I will trade off for some years and that is why I was wonderrng how easy/difficult it is to trade out with II. The sales people make it sound quite easy so I am a little bit jaded.

Atlantis Harborside is almost impossbile to get via an II trade. I don't think I've read that anyone has successfully traded for it even in "off season".

Trading can be a good value, but it is difficult to get anything that is popular and of high quality. If you look through the forums, you will find lots of threads on II trading.
