Hello, I am getting married in June and we are going to honeymoon in Orlando. Our plans are to fly out of PA(where wedding is) (or Norfolk, VA(where we live)if it's cheaper) June 18 and stay in Orlando til the 25. We are looking for a nice but not super expensive hotel, clean, only need 1 bed, prefer free breakfast. We will need a rental car for the time there as I did some research and do not seem to trust the shuttle service and I plan on being in the parks from open til close. My plans for the parks are 5 day Disney Park Hopper ticket and 2 day park-to-park pass for Universal. I did some research and best deal I could seem to find was thru Southwest Vacations and for a flight out of Philadelphia, 7 nights at Clarion Lake Buena Vista(seemed to have ok reviews??) a Hertz Rental car and the park tickets I wanted was $2210 for the 2 of us. I didn't think that was too bad. I am looking for any info and where to possibly get either a better deal or a better package with more perks. I am a AAA member and the last time I went to Orlando which was Independence Day week in 2000 I know we were able to get into Universal Parks early getting our tickets thru there and preferential parking in Disney parks. Not sure if this is still the case but would be interested in something similar if it's available. I know I also used the fast pass and got on all the major rides quick and easy that way. Just kind of wondering what has changed in the last 12 years. Our goal is to try and stay around $3500 for everything, airfare, hotel, car, park tickets, parking and food/drinks(eating breakfast at hotel hopefully & lunch and dinner in parks). How realistic are we being? Any tips on planning/websites and strategies for hitting the park are appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome! Lots of great information here. Congrats on your upcoming wedding!!!

Thanks, figuring out more and more as I go, think I got plan to booking separate flight from Southwest, Car from AAA and Universal Tickets from Undercover Tourist, now looking for best package for Disney Resort for 7 nights, 5 Day Hopper Ticket, and some type of dining plan (under $2500 for both of us is the goal for the Disney Package). Any advice is appreciated.

Welcome to the dis and congratulations on your wedding. I got married and honeymooned at Disney. My best advice when you start deciding on reservations and fun honeymoon type stuff for your trip is to check out the weddings board on the dis. Definitely a lot of the discussions are honeymoon related and not all the brides are getting married at Disney.

As for your current question, I just priced out your dates on disneyworld.com. For your dates with 5 day non hopper tickets and the regular dining plan (1 snack, 1 quick and 1 table meal per day each) is just over $2300. I would then rent a car from one of the rental places on Disney property for the two days you want to go to universal or look into the shuttle (mears I think) that you can pay for. I would imagine $1200 is plenty for plane tickets, universal tickets and a few more meals. And this price was without any discounts. If discounts come out for your dates it would be even cheaper. I have stayed on and off property and for your honeymoon I definitely think you will be better off on property! Oh, and the three times we have requested a room with a king bed, we got one. Since the majority of guests are families, most don't want just one bed, so theres a good chance of getting one. Make sure you ask when you check in - once they overlooked the request on the reservation but were happy to move us.
