New Tivo Premiere series. Thoughts from anybody?

We have three Series 3 units, extremely pleased with them. We purchased the three of them over the course of about 12 months, about 2 or 3 years ago. They are head and shoulders beyond anything that the source providers (cable, etc) make available.

Was wondering if any video junkies here have thoughts on the new Tivo offerings.

A DirectTV person told my mother that they and Tivo have once again combined to come out with a combination unit, sometime this year. We are hoping it is true.

It is true, however the new DirecTiVo units are begin built on the S3 platform, not the new Premiere (S4) platform, so they won't benefit from the HD menus and flash-driven UI motifs.

The Premiere is good, but for now, I'm not trading my S3 in.

Does it have the capability to access On Demand with the cable card? That is the only thing that is holding DH back from getting on on our main TV. We have the comcast DVR.

I lvoe my S3 TiVo that I have on my office TV.

On Demand requires more than CableCARD. It requires a bidirectional host device and unfortunately, the TiVo Premiere, like the TiVo S3/HD, is a unidirectional host-device.
