Spoke to my guide yesterday who informed me that NEW members will not be allowed to buy into VWL after Feb. 2, 2002. All remaining points will be available to existing members as add-ons. Some months are already near sell-out. The number of points as an add-on will not be limited, ie. min(over 25 of course). , max., or a new contract for an existing member who may want a different use year, will still be able to if available, with the 150 point minimum. It's just new members, will be locked out. Does this make sense? Was told this will extend the time for members to still buy add-ons. Thought everyone would like to hear an update.

Hummmm, lets see. I need only 80 more points to take care of my needs. 80 more, really, that's all I need. I swear that's it, really.;)

Maybe we can expect an announcement about BCV very soon??

It makes sense if they are running low on points. It also is an advantage to current members to buy now instead of waiting for small resales to appear.

It also sounds likes sales may have dropped off a bit. I think they were originally anticipating sell-out by now. It's still an amazingly fast sell-out of the resort even if it's slowed down this fall.

Our Guide told us in early November that we should call by Jan 15th if we wanted to add-on at VWL. She said that sales were still good (at that time).
Agree that the VWL sales went very fast. Didn't the Villas open in November, 2000?
ralphd:) :) :) :) :)

I've heard that sales are very healthy, also.

I also think that's it's smart for DVC management to cut-off new masters for VWL (if it is close to sell-out) and reserve the remaining points for the membership.

Any word yet on BCV?

Let's see they sell out in this economy. Hmmm buy the time the have Villas at Eagle Pines or what ever it is called they should be cold out at the Beach club and need the new inventory to sell.

So What is next?

This tactic makes perfect sense. It is kind of like when they added the new buildings at OKW and used them for add-ons.

We are ready for the announcement and can't wait to be members @ BCV.

During our visit to BC in Dec, we were ready but decided VWL just wasn't the place to settle.

Does anyone have a clue from past experience about when the use year would be if sales start in Jan or Feb?:jester:

Pre-sales may start, Florida law will not allow sales till the units are ready for occupancy. You will be able to 'buy' but you will not close till after the resort is ready.

I have no idea exactly how they are going to do pre-sales this time, but that is how they did them at VWL.

I don't know what use year they will start with, they may have to have the use year be the opeing month....I am not sure about that. I would think that the first point that could actually be used would be when the use year would start. I am not sure how they did that at VWL. Maybe some who partici[ated in the pre-sales at VWL could enlighten us.

I started out w/150 points....thought that was enough...now upto 350.....and counting

Sounds good! I plan on buying at BCV when they open. Can't wait to become a member!

We bought VWL in Dec 2000. It was considered a pre-sale. We signed all the papers, but the first day they began closing on anyone's contract was Jan. 15, 2001. In Dec. 2000, they were selling August use year.

If your adding on, don't they give you the same use year you already have??? Theoretically, when presales start, they should have all use years available.

OK, I was wrong. I guess they can just kind of make up points that never existed. I am assuming your Aug use year was the prior Aug, you had a full year's worth of points on Jan 15 and then another allotment the following August.

That is kind of interesting. You had points from the previous August, when the resort didn't officially exist. I guess its not a problem, I was just guessing with my supposition of how they would start.

DH and I purchased at VWL on the first day that it was available for pre-sale, which was in late November 2000. We were given a June use-year at that time. We received our original allotment of 280 points (which 140 we sold back using Magical Beginnings), then we received another 280 in June 2001.

VWL - December 2002 (?)
OKW - May 2002
VWL - June 2001

They do sell ghost points and I posted at the time that WLV wondering if anyone knew where they allotted the points from that had already expired. My assumptions were that the Magical Beginnings, unused rooms and developer inventory would be where the extra points came. I don't recall anyone responding to that portion of the question.

If you assume a total and complete sell out on day 1, previous use year available and no one used MB or other programs (CC, DCL, DC, etc); obviously there is a problem of more points that WL could handle. I doubt there's enough buffer in the entire system to handle that situation. Assuming 314 points per 2 BR average for the year and multiplying by the number of units (? 142) gives around 2318576 for a year. Assuming a use year of 4 months prior, gives 772859 points unaccounted for. This is a rough approximation but gives the idea.
