New stove/ melted aluminum foil ?

Usinf my new stove for dinner tonight. With my old stove and growing up, we would put a piece of foil under the racks in the oven to catch any mess. Well I did that to my new oven and some of the foil melted uugh! Dh tried pulling it and scrapping it but its stuff. The oven is hot so we will wait until it cools.

DH justg read the manual and it said not to use foil cuz it can damage the bottom of the oven Has this happened to anyone and if so is there anyway to get it off without scratching up or damaging it??????????/

I had that happen I just put a little easy off in it there and let it sit till it came loose. New stuff you cant do anything like we used to in the old stuff.

Getting use to the baking setting it a bummer too. My old stove i just had to turn a knob. This new one is digital and I just need patients and getting use to it. My dinner is taking longer to cook cuz i pushed the wrong buttom and it turn off and i didnt notice. I'm sooooo hungry! I'm just glad it not x-mas time cuz i do a lot of baking

So sorry to hear this, if it makes you feel any better you definitely aren't alone!! I got a new oven this past year also, and I did the same thing with the foil. The foil didn't melt on mine, but it ruined the finish on the inside of the oven! I thought there was some kind of condensation on the bottom of the oven when I pulled the foil off, but nope it was the finish itself!! Somehow the finish bubbled up?? I was so bummed... I looked in my manual too, and it said not to put foil or anything on the bottom, because this could happen. Too late.

Well part of the coating came off the pan liner. I read online on another post about same issue . I'm going to look up
Teflon reuseable non-stick oven liners maybe that will cover up the not so nice looking area

Yep. We did that. It makes me feel better to know I'm not the only one that didn't read the manual. A small amount came off when we ran a cleaning cycle. Most of it's still stuck. The repairman said there's really nothing you can do about it.

My DS bought a townhouse a couple of years ago and the oven had foil melted to the bottom of the oven. Nothing will take it off as far as we can tell. It doesn't affect use.

Not exactly the same thing, as my oven is about 8 years old now, but the first time I baked in it when it was new, (I think it was a pie), it dripped and somehow got on the door on the inside of the oven. It was on the window that lets you see into the oven. Well, when I tried to wipe it off later, I realized it was inside the glass! So, for about 8 years, it looks like I'm just too lazy to clean my oven, and I've had to look at that baked on drip. Drives me nuts!

We did that one too. I guess I'm just a frequent oven abuser. You can call a repairman to take the door apart and clean it. We did ours withing a few months after we bought it, so it was covered under our warranty. They said it happens all the time and they'd fix it one onlly. After 8 years you'd probably be responsible for it yourself.

That would drive me nuts especially when we have parties-lol! How in the world did it get in between the door and glass?

Well, for parties, I can just hang a towel on the handle to the oven door and hide it. Of course, if someone uses the towel.... And I have no idea how it got in between the glass.

I never thought about having the door taken apart. If we did it ourselves, I'd worry about breaking it. So for now, I'm just holding out until it's time to buy a new oven again.

Hi, Just wanted to tell you Thank You for posting this mistake!! We are redoing our kitchen which will include all new appliances (double ovens;I LOVE to bake ) and I am sure I would not have read the manual So you have SAVED me from making this mistake . Joan

Well i'm glad this helped you and hopefully will help others. Its a big downer being so excited to get a new appliance and use it , then having it damaged

We bought the home depot extended warranty but not sure if it will cover it. I told dh wont hurt to check . oh well i'm just glad it wasnt anything big and noticable. I'm lucky that I will be able to hide it

buy the way I know my MIL, Dh Gma and mybe BIL will open to look in my stove I just know it! dh and I have a bet going on

I had something similar happen. I got a new stove/oven a couple years ago. I got one with a flat top cook surface. Well, I was cooking something on the stove and it boiled over. All over the stove top and down the front of the oven door. And there are these vents on the oven door and the stuff dripped down into those vents, in between the glass on the oven door. One of these days I'm going to take a pipe cleaner or thin wire brush and get that stuff out of there. It's driving me nuts.
