NEW-STARWOOD PREFERRED GUEST-Questions/Answers

Will you please send me the email also? I am having the same problem with getting my points- I applied online with the offer printed on the page I sent!! I would appreciate the original because I delete almost everything- didn't know I should save something like that! Thanks so much!

Greetings from Arkansas,
Well actually my DH was just made Platinum today.... He travels alot on business-however I did contribute by making the "sacrifice " to go to the Swan 3x's this year LOL !!!
We were only 5 nights from Platinum and are traveling to the NE and Canada this month-thanks to 2 free weekends and Cash and Points. We are staying at some other Starwood properties in-between that will give us the 5 nights during our stay.
I called SPG yesterday and asked since we have all these nights booked and will qualify this month, could we please upgrade prior to our trip and enjoy the benefits of platinum for the trip;) ???
The rep said, "I'll be glad to send a request" .... and I checked this am and we're platinum.... Love that SPG !!!!
Cannot wait to see if we are treated "special"

Anyone have any news on the AMEX 4000 bonus points? I emailed AMEX after Starwood said to contact them directly and have not heard anything back yet.

I have been trying to get my points, first by emailing both SPG, and Amex, then calling both places. My email from SPG said to contact AMex. Amex has not responded to my email in 5 days. Today I called Starwood and was told to contact Amex. I called Amex and was told to call Starwood. The offer was from Starwood in the first place. Luckily, I got an understanding agent, and relayed all this to her.(at Starwood) If I am not entitled to the points, then that is fine. But, she found out that I am and is taking care of it and had to go through some programming person and told me to check back in a week. So......we will see.

Sorry if this has already been posted.....but you can transfer membership rewards pts. into your SPG account for double SPG miles until 9/30/02. The website reads: 1,000 membership rewards=500 SPG points. Normally, 1,000 pts. =333 SPG.

I took advantage, hope it helps someone out!

Scattered AAA Rates are out for May 2003 at the Dolphin. I posted details on some of the other Swan/Dolphin threads.

Congrats!! You are in for MANY treats with this level of SPG. There's nothing quite like PLAT! I am also PLAT LOEWS FIRST...and they re treating us like ROYALTY here at the Portofino. It's wonderful way to travel. Yahoo...you have reached an elite status!:bounce: :Pinkbounc :p ;)

Did anyone else get another bonus offer to join Amex? I have done that and called about my points and Starwood sent me another offer of 4000 bonus points in email! My first offer was dated April 19.

Yes I received the offer, but I will not pay $30 per year for a credit card, points, or no points. There are too many cards out there with lower interest rates, that are free.:D

There is no annual fee the first year of card membership for the Starwood AMEX card. I think $30/year is pretty reasonable for the perks. Starwood points can be transferred into many airline frequent-flyer programs on a 1:1 basis. When you transfer 20,000 Starwood points to an airline, Starwood adds 5,000 bonus miles. :) Most credit cards affiliated with an airline have a $50 annual fee.

I just applied and was approved for the Starwood/AMEX card on 7/10/02, and received the e-mail offer for 4000 points on 7/12/02. I will definitely expect the bonus points after I receive the card and charge on it. I don't care if Starwood post them or AMEX, someone’s going to give me my points.

BTW-This thread has been a fabulous wealth of information! Thanks to everyone who has posted here!

Re 4000 point offer

I got my Starwood membership and Starwood AMEX in April. This is now the second time I've gotten these special point--better than when I joined-- AMEX emails since that time. I called after the first one and was told that I'd have to get another card, reapply. Haven't called yet on this one.

Makes be mad that they send these out offering better and bettr points when I obviously already have a card!

Hey,

Does anyone know how many points it is "per night" to upgrade your room to a better one at the Dolphin? Also exactly what are the various upgrades? Does anyone know?

Thanks
Mike

I thought dreamflight99 would enjoy this: I just found out that we can CHARGE our daughter's college costs to our credit card without an additional fee! :D Unfortunately - they DON'T accept American Express! :( Oh well - we'll get a nice cash-back bonus from Discover Card.

Nancy, I'd send a letter to your daughter's school and send a copy to AMex...you just never know...

:)
