This is a heads up, do not despair post. Learn from my mistakes
I purchased the Disneyland You Are Here and tumbler, no problem. Stock was low around 1pm, but they still had some. You bring the one you choose to the counter, and they take it and give you a pre-wrapped one. So, don't waste time choosing the perfect tumbler, it's not the one you take home.
California Adventure, different story.
They had plenty of both in the morning. I figured I would pick them up on the way back to Grand CA at end of the day. Mistake. They were sold out of the tumblers. I asked if they could get me one from the back and the barista told me they were sold out, IF they received anymore, they would put them out the next day. This would have been awful if I had saved this for my final day. We still had a few days so I didn't despair. Plus, I saw them wheeling carts and carts of these things out at both parks on previous days.
Where the tumblers and mugs are, they re-did the display with the acrylic tumblers. A nice display, I'm sure it took some time to set it up. All this to get dismantled in a few hours.
Next morning, I went to the Starbucks in DCA and lo and behold, and entire shelf FULL of the DCA tumblers. Lesson here is that they hold back stock. They only set out a certain amount daily, so if it's your last day, get it. Don't delay. They will not give you one from the back.
I think they are trying to mitigate the Ebayers. I was in line both times with people with the max allowed to purchase. Their kids had an armload too. They are clearly buying to resell on Ebay, and depleting stock.
I'm sure you've seen pictures online and on blogs. They new mugs and tumblers are adorable. If you collect these, you'll want them. The new Disneyland mug is purple inside
Happy shopping!
