new ship?

i saw a thread started about what you would name the new disney ship. is disney coming out with a new ship?

if so when & where is it going to go?

There are no definite plans yet. DCL is still in the planning stages. What I mean is no contracts have yet been given to any of the shipyards. They are waiting primarily for the Euro and the Dollar to even out. I think the new ship will sail the East/western caribbean. At least thats what i was told from the president of DCL.

Frankly, I'm really surprised DCL has not expanded the fleet as yet....first it was 911, now the $....when you consider the success of DCL vs it's other business units, and the rapid expansion of competitors like RCCL, I hope DCL doesnt "miss the boat" (pun intended)...Although the ships are beautifully maintained, there may be a time really soon that they become obsolete....

I would love to see another DCL ship. Just curious what they would name it? Either way DH and I would love to try out a new ship!

It would be a Mediterranean cruise... I forget the exact places, I know 2 of them were Barcelona and Naples, some place in Spain. Mostly Spain and Italy. One place I know it didn't go was Greece. Sorry that I can't remember all the exact places though.

New ship wont be sailing mediterranean. There are plans for maybe doing a some cruises there one summer. But the new ship will probably be based out of port canaveral. The magic would be probably modified and sent to the west coast for maybe alaska in the summer and mexico in the winter. That info is straight from some of my friends at Disney who are pretty big excutives.

You cant really compare RCCL building lots of ships and disney not. All that RCCL runs is a cruise line. Disney has to run movie production,theme parks, resorts, store, and lots of other stuff. So they are not just spending money on DCL. Thats probably why they seem like they are not expanding fast compared to other cruise lines. They are not just a cruise line.
