New Security Measures for MK Guests; UPDATES: Page 12 - Post 222; Live Reports - Pgs. 18-20

So, we're staying offsite and coming to MK for a prepark-opening breakfast--
arrive 90 minutes ahead of time,
and go through bag check (is it open that early?)
and then take--boat? monorail? walk to Poly? what is fastest at that point?

We have never stayed offsite before, so a little disoriented.

I have a reservation at the Poly in August and this does not drive up my desire in the least. I don't see the need for me to be searched multiple times as I go to different monorail resorts. The idea of getting searched before I leave the hotel does not appeal to me and going through security twice to get into EPCOT is ridiculous. I am not paying a premium price for a premium amount of searches.

Except you have a small private security line going to MK. Visiting different monorail hotels will be a pain for everyone whether they are staying or not.

I didn't ask at what time security was therein the morning but I assume as early as 7am for a 9am park opening. I arrived at 7:20am and there was security set up already.
The express monorail doesn't start until later but the CM told me I could go on the resort monorail if I wanted to, the ferry wasn't open either at 7:20am
I usually just take the resort monorail from the TTC or I walk over to the Poly and take it there, depending on if it already started going, I think the first station that loads passengers in the morning is the Poly.

Great, so it's now going to be a huge pain to get to and from FW and the monorail resorts. This is turning out to be a huge cluster for meals and non-park days.

You'll only be screened once when you arrive at MK and then will head directly to a Monorail Resort.

From a Resort to MK you'll only be screened once either for the Monorailor when you arrive at MK by boat and then will head to a FW boat.

Right, but at previously you never got caught up in that mess, so taking the bus from a resort to the MK to take a boat or monorail to a resort was a *relatively* pain free process. Now you're forced to go through measures and a metal detector for no reason at all. Because I really want to be doing that after the 8:30 Hoopty-dee-doo.

To go from BLT to FW, security? Last few trips, we've taken the boat over and either ate at Trails end or got the take out chicken to bring back to room.

Ok, I wasn't sure if you thought you would be screened multiple times each way. :)

The only way they could prevent the Launch screenings upon arrival at MK is to screen at the Launch resorts. Either way, it still affects the large number of people exiting HDD.

No, it's only if you go through MK, like going from POFQ to FW.

No; there's no Security screenings between resorts.

It only occurs if you use MK as a transfer point.

But why is it necessary to screen at launch anyway? Why not leave some screening where it was at MK, so people just using the MK to transfer, like Disney suggests they do, don't get caught up in a net they shouldn't be.

After enduring a huge crowd trying to get through security to enter MK on March 16, I'm encouraged that they're going to spread things out rather than forcing everyone through that bottleneck.

We were in that line also, both the 15th and 16th, and yes it was rough.

I think it's only because Disney wants MK "proper" to be a secure area. And MK as a transfer point only affects the transfer guests versus guests who use the Launches from GF to Poly or CR to FW.

It's similar to DLR. A Grand Californian guest, who needs something from Sephora, has to go through screening to walk 10 yards to the Sephora entrance.

If they want MK proper to be a secure area, start actually screening people properly then. Start looking more into strollers, which hardly get looked at when I was there in Feb. Start doing actual screening instead of the theatre that happens now, where my honeymoon button is a bigger concern than the scooter that doesn't get screened at all.

What are the chances this gets re-worked sometime between now and the fall so that people walking to the TTC from the Poly won't have to go through security twice to get to Epcot? I specifically chose the Poly bc my trip in the fall will be MK and Epcot only. Had I known this, I might have chosen Boardwalk Villas instead. Since my trip is 5 months away, I'm hoping this is one of the kinks they work out by then.

It seems like the odds of this changing are small. Everybody has to go through security to get on a monorail at the TTC and everyone still has to go through security to get into Epcot.

On the bright side, walkers from Poly have their own "private" security gate, so hopefully it's not as crowded and not a big holdup.

If they could just reconfigure the exit from the monorail at Epcot so that it drops you past security, that would prevent the double-check, but I have to think that's not easy or they would have done it already.

Arriving by bus at the MK, If the bus screening line at MK looks long could you walk back towards the Contemporary and then turn around to use that line?

So there is absolutely no way to go from your resort to Polynesian or Contemporary for a meal without being treated like a criminal? Hmm, I may have a coveted O'Hana reservation for someone if that is the case.

You can use Taxi/Uber or multiple buses segments without a pat down.
