New scenes coming to Mission: Space and a new film for the China Pavilion

I have really high hopes for the China movie. That is my favorite of all the films and I try to see it every time. It really does make me want to visit!
I was watching the presentation and nearly fell out of my chair when they started talking about the film.

I saw the film when I was a kid in the late 80's but totally forgot about it until they started talking about. I hadn't gone back to it my 3 trips as an adult because I forgot it was there.

I forget, is the new film only for green. I've only ever done orange, and I just love the weightless feeling I get from it. I've never seen the point in riding green, unless orange makes you sick. But at that point, I'd probably just skip it altogether since it's just watching a movie on a 10 inch tv.

I swore I would never ride it again, but now I am interested. I am already packing my dramamine for Universal lol

I actually like Mission Space a lot and am really looking forward to the new and improved film. I was hoping for a new Orange Mission but I'll take whatever.

This is what was said on another forum about Mission Space:

"In addition, when Mission: Space reopens from its current refurbishment, it will have some new upgrades courtesy of Industrial Light and Magic. The Orange “spinning” side of the attraction will still feature a mission to Mars, but with improved visuals. The Green “no spinning” side will have an entirely new “Earth orbit” mission designed for the whole family to comfortably enjoy"

I would have preferred they keep both missions similar.

I did orange back when it was the only option. Ever since they added the green side I've only every done that. I don't know why, I liked orange but I'm also kind of afraid to go back on it. Not the brave 8 year old I once was, kind of started hating the extreme feeling of forces so I didn't want to risk it. Looking forward to the new film but I'm going to miss the relaxing version of the mars trip

I agree, it's not for everyone, but as you said, this is such a unique ride concept and experience. I was born with an inner-ear defect that resulted in positional vertigo and hearing loss, but for some reason this ride never bothered me. I love it so much, it's actually my favorite ride in any WDW park. I can still remember my (then) young son amazed that he couldn't lift his arms when the spinning started and he was just laughing. So I'm thrilled they that are investing in updating this ride and are committed to this pavilion as part of EPCOT's future.

My wife does not enjoy it though, so this is one I have to do on my own....can't wait to see the new upgrades!

I think you hit on why I would hate to see it go, no matter how few people are into it. The quality of the technology (and price tag) is just too high to be like "pfft, just get rid of it." I'm really surprised more people aren't into it (I understand if you get sick, but maybe the mission just needs to be changed? The centrifugal force is amazing in there!). As much as I love Star Tours, I think that it would be a real sad day if they just turned everything into a bumpy simulator, but I think that more people would like it.

Mission Space just has one too many things that people hate -- centrifugal force and cramped enclosed spaces.

Wonder when FP will get released? Any guesses? I tried to add to our trip and they aren't there yet.
I even tried for further out and they aren't there.
So I'm guessing they haven't been released yet.
It is just something I need to watch constantly from now?

Haven't seen anything regarding FPs yet.

So, any guesses, theories, inside knowledge, etc, on how they are doing these booster seats for Earth side?
Are they on all seats?
Something added to only some seats?
Installed only when needed?
Something else?
Thoughts?

My guess is like a booster seat and used only when needed. Having it already installed and only on some seats could be a capacity issue.

That was my thought too.
I wonder if they devised something that is available for every seat and can flip up or down and set in place somehow.
It's possible it's something a CM has to bring and install when needed. Maybe they hand them out during the stage when they place you on the circles?
There are several places where they can size and figure out who needs them without it slowing down loading too much
Would be nice if Disney Blog had provided photos when they made the announcement.

True, but I don't think we will find out until Aug. 13th.
