Hi Guys,

At last our new Saratoga Springs contract has completed and we have received our Disney paperwork about being a new DVC member but i am a little disappointed.

All i got was a piece of paper welcoming us to the DVC and a member id number, nothing else.

Is this what you only get on re-sell?

Is this what you get if you buy direct or do you get a goodies pack ect?

Yes, resale buyers only get a little paper with the membership number on it. I’m not sure what direct buyers get but I’m sure it’s not worth as much as the amount you saved by buying resale.

Yes, I expected more on closing too. My complaint is my ‘activation code’ arrived by email but had to wait two weeks for ‘DVC documents’ in the mail.

There is no reason they couldn’t have emailed the member number too and I could have booked my trip sooner. (I just barely snuck in before the 7-month booking window for our trip and could have used the extra two weeks).

I assume they mail the member number to confirm your mailing address.

Also as a heads up, you need your “contract number” to actually set up your online account. So, the membership number in the mail is useless. You’ll need to call member services to trade your member number for your contract number and set up the DVC account.

I mean, you didn't give them any of your money, so it makes sense why they don't send us re-sale rubes any freebies. You got a HUGE discount on your purchase.. consider that your welcome gift.

You're not missing out on much anyways. A made in China tote bag with a rather ugly design. I had to laugh when they wanted me to come to the Members Update when we were at Aulani to try to sell us points at Aulani and the incentive for going was the derpiest looking baseball cap I've ever seen.

DVC could really use some help on their branding.

That's all you get for resale. At some point, you may receive some magnetic DVC stickers, but even that seems to be hit or miss for resale members.

We also just bought resale at SSR, and yep, that’s all you get.

You really don't get much more when you buy direct. I think they are still giving you a small backpack and some papers.

When you bought direct many moons ago, the sent a little goodie bag. That was then and this is now and I think they now send a DVC refrig magnet. I have bought direct and resale. All I got resale was a letter. Really, is a refrig magnet anything to yearn for? Anyway, I can tell you that one thing is the same-the enjoyment of actually using the points, have fun.

Yes i found that strange, I had to call member services to get the right number to register.

We've gotten the same for direct purchases as well as resale. We never got the last magnet that many reported receiving either. I do tend to get all the appropriate magnets etc. that have come about for AP holders. Even signing onsite years and years ago for direct got me nothing. Not even the pen I signed my several thousand dollar contract with.

Disney Vacation CLUB is a moniker, not a reality.

I was just expecting something more then a 1p piece of paper, even a nice letter headed paperwork would have been something, it looks like they look upon resell as something they stepped in with the letter quality and wording.

2if it makes you feel better, you do get a nice semi-customized booklet when you book your rooms with info about the resort.

Coming soon - Mickey branded 'Leper bell' for all resale buyers, posted with the next edition of Disney Files.*

*Resale buyers will be debited $99 per bell plus tax and gratuity, with the sum added to their folio on next stay for all guests in party.

But does the leper bell say “DVC” somewhere on it?!

🤣
