New sandals - "burning" soles of the feet

I bought Teva sandals recently and although I've been wearing them around the house a lot, I only properly tested them today when we went for a long walk with DH. Unfortunately, the soles of my feet were burning after the walk - feeling "hot", you know, the way it feels right before developing a blister.

The question is: what do I do? Try to return the shoes and get some more comfortable ones? The problem is when I tried them on and wore them in the house, they felt great; it is only after a long walk that you can really tell.
I would try to protect my feet by putting some moleskin on them, but it is the whole sole that is burning- I can't put moleskin on the whole sole!

Btw, I was wearing the sandals with the socks - will it be better or worse to wear them without socks?

Any suggestions? Apart from duct-taping the feet? :)

I would guess that the "burning" was more a result of the socks and shoe causing friction. Try wearing them for a long walk without socks to see if that makes a difference!
 
Well, might try socks? Even 2 pair, maybe, which is a common technique for avoiding blisters with new hiking boots.
 
Thanks. Kind of opposite pieces of advice: one to not wear socks, the other - to wear two socks :) I will try to experiment with both, but I feel like it's the problem with the shoe. I don't get blisters when I wear sportshoes.
 

I am not able to wear Tevas for a lot of walking - I have a relatively flat foot and have similar outcomes to what you are describing

Two pairs of socks might help if they are non-cotton

Any shoe that feels uncomfortable to me, DOES NOT go to WDW with me.:rolleyes: So, I am down to 2 really well-worn pairs of shoes, and when they go, I have NO idea what I will do.:confused:
 
I had the same problem when I first got my Tevas a couple of months ago. I kept wearing them though, walking in the mall and now they're completely broken in.
 
You probably need to break them in a bit. Make sure they fit snugly on your foot so that your foot isn't slipping. Wear them for short periods of time. If there continually is one or two hot spots, you can wear the Moleskin or duct tape in just those areas.

I just purchased a pair of Nike Straprunners, and I am experiencing the same problem. I'll just break them in before wearing them for a long period of time. I haven't had the same problem with my Tevas.
