New rumor RFID wrist bands

The pictures on the website looks like they can be removed at any time, and I am guessing like the PP stated you could attach it to a belt loop or somewhere else. I think these sound like a great idea. I really like to have a lanyard for my Key to the World but I have to put it inside my shirt on certain rides like Rock'n Roller Coaster and Tower of terror, it would be great to be able to wear something on my wrist so I don't have to do that. :thumbsup2

Could someone obtain a reader a be able to pick up all the information stored on the chip? Could some really smart criminals figure how to walk through the park scanning wristbands and walking away with private information?

Yep.

I like the RFID technology and have no objections to it on anything than a security front. While expensive to implement I think long term it wouldn't be much more expensive especially if it replaces at least some labor cost. I imagine it would be a rubber bracelet which would make it durable, easy to remove, and not all that expensive on a per-piece basis.

They would be able to know where people are and could manage things like the buses and crowd flow more easily. I could think of a lot of advantages to having this system.

My issue comes with the security. The only thing that should be stored on the actual chip is a reference ID. The actual guest information should be stored in a secure database and queried with the ID from the wrist band. If the first consideration is security it can be done right but, sadly, security is often an after-thought when implementing these kinds of solutions. The best way to handle the encryption is most likely a dual key pair (public/private keys like SSL). It is transactionally lightweight and the public keys can be easily revoked or set to expire. Also, if they are going to allow charging they really need to have a second factor of authentication. A simple PIN (not stored on the RFID bracelet or hashed if it is) would drastically increase the security. In reality the key to the world cards are most likely not very secure either.

I totally agree with Frank! It is not hard for me to walk around with a RFID reader. I have one sitting next to me right now. Every time my Passport Card or Credit Card get close to it, the reader sends the data to the application on my laptop (and it makes a "bong" sound every time it completes a successful read). I hope they take the right security steps when implementing.

I love the idea. I go to the parks now with nothing but my key to the world card and a couple of dollars in my pocket. This would mean just one less thing to have to carry. My kids are old enough that I let them have charging privelages. This would mean I don't need to worry about them loosing thier card.

Is this the mark of the beast we have been waiting for?
not untill someone MAKES you wear one........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

If you Google this is seems that this has been a rumor since 2007 so I'm not sure this is something that is going to happen in the near future.
