Jost posted a review of Mythos, one of only two full-service restaurants at Islands of Adventure. It isn't the restaurant it set out to be when the park first opened in the summer of '99. Has it gotten better? And, would you say that it is the best theme park restaurant in the country? A lot of people do.

I've not had a bad meal at Mythos.

I thoroughly enjoy the food, service and ambiance there.
It is my favorite place in the park!

So looking forward to eat at Mythos when I return this fall.

I've only been going there for a few years now, but it is my favorite theme park restaurant. The atmosphere is appealing, the service is always first rate and the food has been better than similar food almost anywhere else. The most important factor to me is the price. It is cheaper than most other table service park restaurants with better service and food. That makes it by far the best value in my book.

Scott,

Just wanted to let you know I've been enjoying your reviews in conjunction with Theme Park Insider. Keep up the great work!

Hey Scott, I've been enjoying your reviews on TPI as well.

The tortilla soup is pretty standard. We like to start with a Tempura Sushi.. or if they have the Mushroom Brioche, that's even better.

Make sure if you go to Mythos, you ask what the Risotto of the Day, the Pastabilities of the Day, and the Pizza of the Day are. These are the best meals you'll have and they're not on the menu but the servers can explain them in detail to you.

I've never gone wrong with the risotto or the pasta. Mythos is seriously not just one of my favorite theme park restaurants, but one of my favorite restaurants anywhere.

Just got back. Mythos for lunch yesterday...around 1p or so. I was looking for the mushroom appetizer but they have discontinued that....(the server - who was EXCELLENT - said it might be temporarily). So we went back to the Sushi....friends had the tomato / mozzarella (flatbread?). I had the filet, potatoes with french onions & asparagus. DS had the pizza, Friends had 1. same as myself and 2. chicken tortilla wraps.

I noticed the server was VERY detailed with continual explanations of this and that for each item. I suppose with tourists they deal with tons of complaints and being up front on everything thwarts that.

We all left very happy with the food and service. DS & I - tab was about $48 and it was plenty of food.....Servers were excellent about filling up our drinks. The atmosphere, I believe, is why I love to go there...and it of course did not disappoint. The Server was very thorough about going through the risotto of the day, pizza of the day, etc.

I find I was most impressed with my first time there (2004)...but I realize it is impressive and first impressions matter. This was my third time...and I will go back. Our friends...who were there for the first time...seemed to like it as well.

It's a wonderful, cool, themed restaurant with good food priced fairly and a good place to relax a bit before heading out to Dragons!

(NOTE - Our usual route to Dragons was blocked with construction for Harry Potters. For now, you will take a bridge to Jurassic and go right to head to Dragons after Mythos).

Hugs,
Mary

Just wondering, I think I read somewhere that Mythos is only open for lunch, is this correct? I will be there for the 1st time at the end of June, and look forward to trying it. Is it hard to find? Looked to me like it was in a rock? :rotfl2:

I have to agree with the commentary on the crab sliders. White castle sliders maybe, but crab sliders!! Since i eat there more often than i should i also tried them and then asked Daniel what was he thinking? He explained they were quick, easy, different and made for "fast" sit down meal for those that wanted to get back out into the park quickly but appreciated a chance to sit down in a unique setting. Chef Mark said they had served a lot of the sliders. I have never been disappointed with the rissoto and when they had a beef tenderloin rissoto with the raspberry red wine reduction sauce, OMG. :cool2:

Great review scott. We never had a bad meal here.
The 1st time blew me away with the theme and the rissoto was one of the best meals I had in a long time.:thumbsup2

I have a question,

We have always said in the many years visiting that we were going to try it. Now this July we decieded to give it a try. The question is, do we need to make a reservation, when, where and how? We will be staying onsite at RPR as usaual.:thumbsup2

Did someone say mushroom brioche?!?!? I loved that, only saw it there once but asked about it every other time...was it on the menu recently?!???????

We never made ressies but have waited 15min to get a seat a couple of times..
There is a kiosk as you enter IOA to make ressies tho..

many people just make a ressie for mythos the morning of....

i've never made a ressie and have not had over a 15 minute wait for a table.

Yeah, so spoiled not having to make some 3 month or 6 month ADR's for such a classy place with wonderful food.

Imagine walking up to a place and actually get seated within a few mins, ahh, the perks of the "other" side.

Is that in the middle of summer and at normal times? I'll be there June 14 thru the 19th, and we'd probably eat lunch between 11:30 and 12:00, do you think we'd still only have a 15 minute wait? I'm one of those people who really prefers to make ressies way in advance (like I do when I go to Disney), but I'm not sure what days we will be doing IOA or Studios, so I'm thinking about just winging it this time around!

I usually just show just before 11:30AM when they open and have no trouble getting a seat in a few mins, even if there's several people with me

To answer someone's question way back there.....YES - our server mentioned to us Tuesday that they only serve Lunch....I was surprised...but I'm USUALLY There in July - when US/IoA is open until 10p......it was only open till 6p on Tuesday...

This was my 3rd or 4th time at Mythos and I've never had to wait to be seated.

I noticed they took down the sign that said "Voted Best Theme Park Restaurant by...."....so I guess they've lost that distinction.

And yes - Tuesday we were told the Mushroom Brioche was temporarily discontinued.

Although the server said it may come back. I hope so....
