New "reuse magic band" option. Does this mean, we'll finally be able to decline new magic bands?

My struggle trying to decline magic bands has been real. I now see a new option when you go to customize magic bands. Right at the top, it says "Reuse Magic Band." Wouldn't it be exciting if we can FINALLY go back to declining magic bands? I think this is sometimes new on the website?

You have been able to reuse bands since day one and declined new ones for at least a few yrs but it will be exciting when people actually have to worry about it.
sooner than later I am hoping.
I think the original poster is describing what has happened a few times to me as well. Even though you check "decline magic bands," they still send one to your resort.

Or to your house! I declined MBs for our last trip, which was supposed to start March 17. Not only was that trip then cancelled due to the virus, but we got a box filled with gray MBs, even though I had declined them. The box sits as a sad reminder of the trip that wasn't meant to be.

We went on two trips last year, both times there was no longer the option to decline MagicBands. In the past you were able to decline, but then they changed to having to get one, and everybody in the group had to get a new one. Yes, you can reuse them, but I believe the op wanted to decline getting them.

Yeah, I wasn’t very clear in my post. We reuse magic bands and until the last year, had been able to decline them without any problems. But, recently even if you don’t customize them and decline them in othe online check in, they still send gray bands to the resort to give you at check in. Which is a problem for those of us who already have magic bands because too many MBs in your account cause all kinds of problems.

Just a fluke.

I’ve declined a band the last two years forat least one reservation. Sometimes the ability pops up, sometimes it doesn’t. I just waited until it popped up. I’ve never been given bands I don't want.

I believe it has been more than my last two trips that the decline feature was not included. It would be interesting to see how many people have not been able to decline. It is such a waste to keep getting them. I have plenty.

You can go to your account and deactivate the bands you don't want to use on that particular trip. That's what the CM advise.

Since whenever it was they tweaked the MB ordering process awhile ago the inability to decline MBs has been a serious issue for us. Despite "declining MBs" in online check-in, we've been met with a box full of grey MBs the last 5 stays or so resulting in 20+ unneeded grey bands attached to our accounts. Sooo annoying, not to mention wasteful.

Will be very happy when/if the option is ever restored and working.

I'm thankful I've never received MB after declining them on any of my trips, but hopeful they make this more reliable for the future since I have way too many bands lol

For my trip last August, I customized one of the solid colored (free with resort stay) ones, which was sent to my house... but I also got an email saying my Magic Band would be waiting for me at check in. Sure enough, there was one at check in. I didn't ask what color it was, I told them to recycle it.

The struggle is real. I don't want any more Magic Bands, can't use any more Magic Bands, want to get rid of the ones that I have. I was told last year that you absolutely can decline a magic band but I sure can't find the option anywhere. I looked a couple of months ago when I booked the October trip and I still can't find the option.

I don't have to worry about what Magic Bands to order for our trip in November. The section where you would order them is greyed out completely, so I guess right now they are not accepting new MB orders. Though I placed orders for our August and October MBs with no problem during lockdown time.
