New push to retheme more Disney rides (Tiki Room, Jungle Cruise, Peter Pan)

That's fair but what Disney needs to do then is make better movies with characters that people fall in love with. They haven't done that in a very long time which is why you see people so emotionally attached to older characters.
Are you saying Br’er Rabbit is a more beloved character than Tiana?
I have a little girl. Little girls love Tiana.

With the Dwayne Johnson Jungle Cruise film based on the ride coming out next year, I wouldn't be surprised to see a refurb to make the ride tie-in more closely to the film (circular logic, I know).
....I thought that I'd heard a rumor to that effect.....I'd love a revamp with "The Rock"! :faint:

She was the first princess my kids met when we were on our first trip. She is awesome and up to date. Just takes Disney a while to get around to things. Kids love Toy story it took 20 years to show up in the park. We will have to go to Cali to see cars.

Yes absolutely Br'er Rabbit is more beloved than Tiana. I've been to all the Disney parks around the world probably 50+ times with family, friends, and others. Not a single person in any of those groups has ever said, "I'd love to meet Tiana."

In my group, nobody even knows his name, we call them the bears from Splash.

What does that prove?
Only that different people like different stuff and the younger crowd prefers the more recent released movies and the characters that go along.

Now after Disney announced Splash Mountain would be rethemed to Princess and the Frog.

Many online are also pushing for Peter Pan, Tiki Room, and the Jungle Cruise to be changed as well due to their narratives around Native people, and their depiction of white colonialism.

It All makes me want to throw my hands up.
My vacations have never been about micro analyzing an attraction, building, sign or music accompaniment. no one I know does this. People are Hypersensitive and the appearance of “ looking to find ANYthing” to complain about is becoming the norm. It’s Not! History is there to learn from.
Move forward ... try to Relax on your Disney vacation. Ugh!

I ❤️ Tiana and Princess and the Frog... but that does not make me waiver.. give her her Own attraction👍

Although thinking about it, the movie trailer for "Jungle Cruise" clearly shows a depiction of "actors" hired by Dwayne Johnson's character to portray stereotypical headhunters in order to scare the passengers. Maybe they'll do some additional editing before it's released.

This would have been the best outcome. One ride for Tiana and one for Br'er Bear & Friends. Really what they should have done was re-theme the one in DL to Tiana, and leave the one in WDW alone. Will have to hope that Tokyo tells Iger to pound sand and keeps the OG version. I suspect Tiana isn't that popular in Japan.

OMG, that's EXACTLY what I said in a comment in Brayden's ["Mickey Views"] newest vlog about Disney's recent announcement! It seems to me that the whole "Louisiana bayou" theme just does NOT fit into the scheming of a frontier locale. If anything, it'd probably be better suited to revamp the Jungle Cruise as a bayou trip...

...can someone please tell me the racial overtones to this attraction? [never been, so I guess that I'm missing something...? :confused3 ]

Nothing that I can think of (and it was Walt's 'baby' by the way). I think that's why it's been left alone so long. But, for the others, there are always people that like to make a fuss and find fault with anything - the past is history, and that fact will not be changed, we just need to move forward.

Well that's odd that nobody in your group knows their names given that their names are said repeatedly during the Splash Mountain ride.

Exactly! No one in my group remembers them because they don't leave that much of a good impression.
And again Tiana is better known, at least in my group.

And then again, that is not the point. The important part of my statement was that different people like different things and a character that is beloved in one group is seen as unlikable in an other group.

I've thought for awhile now that these three attractions should be reimagined, because stepping back and removing any sentimental attachment, I can admit to myself that they are extremely dated and probably don't hold a lot of appeal for first time visitors. With the technology we have now, they could be so awesome if done right. Peter Pan especially.

Well I guess it's a good thing The Great Movie Ride already closed. My favorite actor who was featured in it, John Wayne, is being deemed evil now. :sad1:

Is Liberty Square going to go next? Columbia Harbor House? Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln?

What about 7 Dwarfs Mine Train? Dwarfism is a real thing. The 7 dwarfs are stereotypes. I recall stories about the Australian child being bullied for his dwarfism in the pre-covid days.

Disney itself deemed alligators offensive four years ago after the tragic alligator attack on its property. They even removed Louis the Gator from parades. I'm surprised he's back.
