New poster! POFQ or "good neighbor" hotel?

I knew it was your son, but I have a DD so I think I type that automatically. Why don't you celebrate both birthdays. Disney doesn't care if it's the following week. I've gone two weeks after my DD birthday or a week early and still celebrated. You could have a Chracter Breakfast for one and a Character Dinner for the other. There's a new Stitch breakfast at O'Hanas that the boys would probably love.

If you can get the FL Res rate for POFQ I would stay there and spend the extra money on a Character meal. If you can't get the FL Res rate I would go with the FL rRes rate for AKL.

Here's a thought, give your DD's pictures of both and let them decide. Oops, I'm really creating havoc now, getting carried away and need to stop. Sorry.

I'm leaving the boards until tomorrow. Have fun without me.

Oops, I forgot about the boat ride. You can ride that boat from downtown Disney without staying at POFQ. I've done it just for fun a couple of times -- just go round trip. You can also have your DH take the boys out in a Mouseboat (or whatever they are called now) and cruise around on their own. My DD loves doing that with dad.

Bubbye!

If you want a boat ride and don't want AKL maybe you should check out wilderness lodge .

How do I find out about Character meals? I have never done them and really I've not heard too much about them.

My boys would love the Stitch thing...they watch Lilo & Stitch every day in our van!! That's funny! They would love it! Are they expensive to do? And how do you do it?

Thanks!

Cambra: For any character meal, you would need to make advance dining reservations through Disney Dining - 407-WDW-DINE.

All Ears Net is a great site for dining menus. Here is the link http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/menus.htm

Thanks for that info!! I think my boys would love that Ohana meal! Do you know if I can get FL res discounts for those? I know I could ask on another board...but you have been so helpful here! Thanks!!

And, are these dinners and breakfasts something you just show up for anytime during that time frame...or do you have to be there at the beginning?

Thanks..how fun!!!

but I really like the idea of the boatride for the kids at FQ to DTD.

You will LOVE the easy access to DTD... so many more choices for restaurants. McDonalds is there... a full service one. Earl of Sandwich is sooo good too! I usually grab my grub there, take DS (6) to McD's then we eat together.

Also, Fulton's has the best seafood, IMHO and it is such a cool place since it's an old boat... you know.. the kind with the water wheel... gosh the name escapes me! Riverboat... that's it... :rotfl2:

Have fun planning... it's 1/2 the fun!!

Cambra: The Disney character dinners and breakfasts are very popular and often sell out weeks in advance. If there are any you are interested in attending, I would call Disney Dining at 407-WDW-DINE (407-939-3463) and make an advance reservation. Often Disney restaurants do take walk-ins if they are not sold out. With an advance reservation, Disney will provide a specific time for your breakfast or dinner. As far as I am aware, there is not a Florida resident discount for meals. There is the Disney Dining Experience card that Florida residents can purchase (around $70) that provides a 20% discount at many Disney dining locations.

All such great info!!!!

Thank you so much for coming back to my thread to answer all my questions!! It is so helpful..this site is just wonderful!!! :)

Hi Cambra, I'm back now -- refreshed from a semi-nights sleep -- too busy worrying about WILMA to actually sleep. What a treat to walk into my office and find all of you still here waiting for me.

As mentioned, there are no FL res discounts on meals. The Dining Experience Card is great if you will be eating at a lot of sit down restaurants. Ours paid for itself in one trip. But we go frequently so it made sense for us. If you don't go frequently, or don't eat at a lot of sit down restaurants/buffets, this card may not work out for you as you wont save as much as you paid for it.

Just curious, what kind of tickets are you getting? I'm assuming you are not AP holders. If you are the DDE card is about $20.00 less. That might make a difference. Also, if you are APers you can get dining discounts a some of the restaurants. (I don't have my list with me).

EIther way, Ohanas is great and your boys will love it.

Hi Minnie :wave2: and good morning!

Where are you? I see you say South Florida...we live in Melbourne...my mil lives in Fort Lauderdale. Last year we went to the west coast to miss the storms that hit us direct...and got is MUCH WORSE over there! Our hotel flooded (and we were on the 19th floor!!) Rain was so powerful it came in thru the air condition vent....and we lost power for a day and nite....AWFUL!!!!!!

Anyway...stay safe!!

Thanks sooooo much on the advice of Ohana! We made breakfast reservations last nite...and yes...we told her it was our son's birthday! Our other son will have a birthday a week later..so I told her that too..and they will do something for him as well!! Yippee!!!

Any more advice???? I welcome it!!

I'm sitting in Deerfield Beach right now but I live in Boca Raton. Last year we lost power for 2 weeks due to Charlie (I think) so when Jeanne came at us I fled to WDW with my DD and left DH at home (he's soooooo stubborn). Even though Jeanne came through Orlando, it was better than being in my house with no power for four days. WDW never lost power and I felt much more safe -- even with the uncovered windows. Actually, I think the uncovered windows helped. I could see what was going on instead of seeing the back of a hurricane shutter and hearing noises that I couldn't identify. Anyway, I'm debating whether I should make plans to head to WDW again. The problem is that no one has a clue where this one is going to make landfall. Oh well.

Back to planning your trip :rotfl: Way to much fun.

Are there any other characters that your kids like? If you tell them at the front desk when you arrive or in an e-mail in advance they can have a B-day card waiting for your son from that character.

Are you going to do a Character Dinner -- I can't remember if I told you to order a cake in advance and I'm toooooooo lazy to go back through the posts.

Sitch is my son's favorite right now! Both my boys watch Lilo and Stitch everyday! I am not sure if we're gonna do a dinner...Chef Mickey is sold out and the others..well, they for sure wouldn't go for the Princess thingy...and not the Pooh and Tigger..so, we'll see!!

I cannot get on the WDW FL resident site...I can sign on to WDW...but for 2 days now my computer won't allow me to access the FL resident part...when I click it...all it says is "Detecting Browser Properties" and I get a blank screen or it keeps returning to the part where you type in your zip code over and over and over again!! I hate computers!!!!!!! :badpc:

I used my hubby's lap top and I was able to access it...so it must be my pc. Who knows...now I can't even check the rates :confused3

I know I could call...but that is sooo time consuming!

I know what you mean about hating computers. I have a computer at home but it drives me crazy so I use the one in my office. Good thing I don't have a lot of real work to do I would never get on these boards and think of the fun I would miss.

You know, I never really thought about it but there aren't really a lot of Character thing to do with boys. They need to put in a Buzz Light Year or Villian Dining thing. They actually used to have a villian dinner but it fell by the way side -- just when my daughter decided she wanted to do it. :confused3 Typical.

Have fun when you get there and if you have any more questions let me know.
