New Pop Century?

They are not even working on it. So I wouldn't expect to see it done for at least several years.

the economy got bad.

when Pop century and the other value resorts are filled to at least 70 to 80% most of the year (not just certain times) - then I was told they would consider opening the rest of Pop Century.

so is that bridge roped off indefinately?
how far around is the lake? would it have made a nice walk?

I just made ressies for Dec., 2005, and was asked which section I preferred--Classic (50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's) or The Legendary Years (early 1900's) I booked this through CRO on Saturday, Feb. 5.

That's crazy, I thought for sure they would at least still be working on it? I stayed there in October and planning on another tri this October. I thought it would be interesting to see what they would do to represent the 1900s?

Does anyone know for sure when the Legendary Years section will be completed?

I asked that to CRO once, of course they really have no idea, and was told 'Saratoga took precedence and it would not be reviewed for completion until Saratoga was completed' !!

When there is a need for the rooms. At this point they aren't even working on it.

So if I get a lake view, what will I see? A lake with a lot of unfinished construction in the background?

The exterior shells are all finished, but they don't have any of the colorful exterior decorations, they kind of look like a bunch of drab apt. or dorm builings. While the lake view is pleasant, it certainly isn't stunning; the lake itself really isn't that big or overly landscaped. Here's a link to a photo of one of the bldgs (one of these days I'm going to have to learn how to attatch pictures to a post). http://www.hpphoto.com/servlet/com....ml&pict_id=52710968&index=44&album_id=4768944

Help! I can't see the picture! Can you post it again?

YEARS?? Once they decide to open it, I would say they can open it in a few months - it may take a few years to make that decision though...

I didn't see where they were ALL finished last week..just one section and the main hall. Been that way since we were there this time last year. It looks very desolate. For the person who was able to rent that section for the end of the year, I can't imagine that they would be able to start even tomorrow and be finished by the end of the year. They have several more sections to build yet.

What I fear to be most telling is that row of trees planted across the lake, almost as if they were trying to hide something... Give it a few years, and the view of the abandoned construction will be reasonably obscured.

Why would they start construciton and then stop it?

Disney overbuilt its hotel rooms while there was prevcious little investment in the parks (new attractions, etc.). The softening economy didn't help (and gave a convenient excuse) but much of Disney's decline in business were problems of their own making.

But knowing the way Disney works, the minute they decide to open that side the trees will disappear and you will see new landscaping.

Look how long POP sat until they decided to open it.

There must be a chance of it being completed by December, or they wouldn't have asked me this.
