From Disney's website. hope it helps your planning.

Disney's Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show will begin performances at Disney's Polynesian Resort in the Luau Cove on Feb. 19. In the new show, the hostess for the evening, Auntie Wini, invites the whole neighborhood for a celebration featuring the music and dances of the cultures of Tahiti, Samoa, Tonga, New Zealand and Hawaii, while guests dine on a feast inspired by the flavors of Polynesia. Reservations are now being accepted for this new offering. Beginning with the Grand Opening of Feb. 25, two shows will be presented daily Tuesday through Saturday at 5:15 and 8 p.m. and is non-commissionable.

This is the information I got this morning, when I called and inquired about it:

It is 2 hrs. long. There are songs from Lilo and Stitch. Its a family and friends gathering. Several new hulas are done specially for Disney and this show. It is a 3 course meal which consists of a roasted chicked, polynesian rice, south seas vegetables (don't tell you which ones), "new" dessert, unlimited drinks (beer, wine, soda). There will be a la carte exotic drinks, soda, coffee, and also a children's menu of hot dogs, nuggets, mac and cheese, PB&J.

Price is $49.01 per adult, children $24.81 and tax and gratuities are included.

They also say that the cove is now an enhanced area, but no specifics as to what enhancements are given. Hope to try it on the 19th - will post a review if I get seats.

I would love to hear all about it. I hope you get seats!!

Have you been to the old one for comparison?

I just got off the phone and after a lengthy conversation, I was able to book it for the first show ever. It is in preview and there is only one seating. I got the 19th. I was told that it was mostly going to be employees and cast members and some openings to the general public. However, you have to insist since they keep telling you that it is bookable only from the 25th on, but their website says that it opens on the 19th with the "Grand Opening" for the 25th.

The seating is at 5:15PM. I will be going with my DH, DA, DD, and DS. Will post a review and try to take pics.

I have been to the Luau about 4 times, so I'll let you know how it compares.

Hopefully, it will go well, but who knows when things open the first day, it might be a little slow, mixed up, etc.

Can't wait to hear all about it!!

me too !!!!
We are going in early March and I would like to know what to expect.

I'll post a notice as soon as I can. Hopefully, I'll be able to log online while down in Disney and post it right away. I will take pics and submit them as soon as possible.

I am glad we will be at the first one, even though I don't expect everything to run smoothly, but hey, we'll give it a try. We are adventurous and love Disney.

I am especially interested in the menu. If I remember correctly the old luau menu had many more choices and offerings. The Hoop de doo has two different meal choices(chicken and ribs) and the old Luau had two chioces as well(Chicken and pork). I am not a big eater, just like a variety. Thanks

Tonyspad-Pigsty333 posted the new menu a few posts up.
Look like chicken is the only choice on the menu but they did
add a kids menu.

Does this mean that if I have seats for the luau in May that I will actually be attending this show or is it seperate?

I remember when the Luau had all you could drink Mai Tai's... :( This new Luau sounds interesting though. The last time I went was on my honeymoon over 10 years ago....

I booked today for Friday 28th, the 5:15 show. I can't wait to go. I haven't been to the Luau at Poly since I was 14 and I can barely remember that.

Have Fun!

From what I hear, they only offer the chicken. I am not a big chicken eater, but I'll give it a try.

This is taking the place of the old luau. As I said, I'll post as soon as I can and let everyone know what they mean by the "enhanced cove area" and the menu.

Yes, I remember the MaiTais were included. But still, unlimited beer, wine and soda is not bad.

HAVE AN AWESOME TIME!!! I hope
your weather down there is better than
ours today -30 c this morning.

Went with my Dh, DS (10) and DD (12) and my aunt. Same set up, you are greeted in the pathway and welcomed with a lei, then directed down the path to where the photographer is waiting to take your picture. Take photo and proceed to the hostess area. After a short wait, you are escorted to your table.

Not a lot of change. It didn't seem that much different, except that my husband commented that the lighting was different.

The show was a little "whiny" for my taste. Service was slow. One word of advice, double up on your drink order. We only got one drink the whole show. I learned from our waiter that there was only one bartender for the whole aloha show (500 people).

You get a salad, hawaiian coconut bread, fresh pineapple. Dinner is rice (same as the previous luau), ribs (got seconds of those) and chicken (didn't care for it). The vegetables were broccoli, carrots, zucchini and mushrooms. Not too overcooked. Dessert was a trio of cakes accompanied by a flaming volcano (for presentation only). It was okay if you like berries with your cakes.

Any drinks, other than soda, beer and wine and the most awful tasting water were included in price.

Anything else was extra. The new big thing that I saw everywhere where the glow cubes. Acrylic plastic cube that glows, in different colors in your drinks. Some drinks had them and others didn't ($1.95 extra if not included in price of drink). You get a souvenir glass to keep with specialty drinks, which were small and the drinks were very small.

The show was okay - I preferred the old one better. Would I do it again, probably not unless we were with someone on their first trip and took them there. Service was slow - not the best of time.

Sorry, the line should read, any drinks other than soda, beer or wine are not included in price. They average about 7-8 a piece. Kind of expensive and small servings.
