I read somewhere that there was a new places to eat in DTD opening in Jan08 something to do with dinosaurs like T-Rex. Now I can't find anything about it. Does any one know about this?

I heard about that too. Either from DVC or in the Frommer's book I just read. I don't think it is suppose to open until late spring or early summer.

This restaurant is currently under construction and is located across the canal from Raglan Road. This venue will be owned and operated by Landry's who own Rainforest Cafe (DTD & AK), Yak & Yeti (AK) and Landry's Steakhouse (off property). I am not a fan of Rainforest Cafe, so I do not have a lot of hope for this venture since it is similar in concept. The problem I have with RFC is the food quality.......when we have gone the food has been very bad and we have permanently marked RFC off our dining list. We have not tried Yak & Yeti, but will hopefully get there on our next trip. Keep your fingers crossed T-Rex will be worth visiting!

:thumbsup2

I called Landry Corp the other day - T-Rex opening this summer 2008. If it goes well maybe spring 2008 - but if construction problems, this fall 2008.

Hey it's new constuction - dates change

We have a T-Rex cafe here in the KC area and it is much better than Rainforest, in my opinion. We have always found Rainforest Cafe to be too expensive and we've never really liked the food. T-Rex food is about the same price but the food was really good on all of our visits, and we've been 3 times now. The main complaint most have here is the extra costs. They have a fossil dig area (think big sandbox with buried plastic bones) and computer games but you have to pay $3 to get in (for each person and adults must accompany children). Skipping that area is near impossible as there is ALWAYS about a 1 hour wait for a table.

Having said all that -it is worth seeing and if your kids like Dinos even better. Our kids love it and for the family of 4 we usually spend around $100 which includes food, play area stuff and a toy for each kiddo. It is a fun treat for the kids for sure and the decor/theming is better than Rainforest.

 Thanks for the info. I'm very disappointed.
We aren't doing WDW this time (except DTD) and there a just a few things I really wanted to do like Aquatica which won't be open till a few days after we leave  and go to the T-Rex place which now won't be open either. I should have booked this trip for 2009 instead. O Well.:sad2:

We ate at Cookes of Dublin yesterday ( yes we are here) and the whle area across from the raglan/cookes area is walled off and under construction. I didn't notice the date, but it looks like construction hasn't been going on too long.

Thanks for the update from your local trex. We have a local RFC and I SO agree with the food review Apostolic4life. When it first opened years ago, the menu was unique and had some great appetizers. Now, the food quality IMHO has gone so far down hill, i now bribe my niece to not make me eat here when we go to the mall. It is amazing what a promise to go to the Build a Bear store will get you:rolleyes1

We just walked by the T Rex area today. A few walls are partly up and that is about it. It took them forever to start on. Have no idea what the hold up was. :confused3

My friend in Celebration says publications are putting TRex's opening back to end of 2008 or early 2009! Too bad-- it was originally scheduled to open in time for our summer trip in June but now I'm hoping for a summer 2009 reservation:woohoo: .

Does anyone know if there will be a Build a Dino at this T-Rex Cafe? I really wish that they would put a one or build a Build a Bear in downtown Disney.
