New Pins Revealed?

So, I'm in my usual "slightly bored, unable to go on VMK, click any bookmark I have" mode, and I click on the url for the VMK homepage.

Then, some big thing of text catches my eye: it is the usual thing that we see during the weekend that tells us when the pin is going to be on sale. But wait... what's this I read?

They... revealed it early?

There is something about going online on Friday morning to find out what the Weekend Pin is, so I feel slightly... spoiled in knowing prematurely what this weekend's pin is.


AND ALAS! I just check out what is coming up this month to see if they did it for next weekend's pin as well!

Lo' and behold: Holiday 2006 Snowflakes pin! AGH!


Anyone else disappointed that VMK took away the surprise? the wonder of guessing what pin was next?

Yes, I agree with you, Pirate-Emery! I like to speculate on what the new pin is going to be (Yule log? Jingle Bells? Blinking-Christmas-lights? lol) - and I'm surprised they did this. Oh, well - hope they look cool, anyway...

They have been showing the new pins on the calendar for awhile now.

Yeah, Monkey's right, they've been showing this since last month, or at least earlier this month, I think. I'm w/PE. I prefer the surprise. Maybe they could just say "New Pin to be released" so we can be ready to get it (though it's pretty much expected now-a-days, isn't it?), but leave the actual title unknown.

I guess there's still the surprise of what it's going to look like.

maybe after they type in an event on the calendar they cannot change it? So they cant change ' Unreleased Pin ' To lets say: ' Holiday 2006 Chanukah Pin ' on the release date? Just a estimate

That seems unlikely. I've seen them make changes to the calendar many times.

I think saying that it's a Chanukkah pin is not a big deal. They are not giving away the surprise. We dont know what it looks like or what's on it. Just like "Pirate Pin" tell us nothing further than the theme.

Never thought of that...

Drat! They should have switched the Christmas pin with the Snowflake pin! So the Christmas pin is out for Christmas Eve... Oh well...

This one's a bit different since you pretty much can't avoid it if you look at the Events calendar. I use the calendar a lot to see the description of host events.

It might be nicer for them to just say "New pin on sale" on the calendar and if you want more details like the name of the pin, you move your cursor to that entry on the calendar. I'd be happy with that. Then I'd have the choice to read the description or to be surprised.
