Well, it's been 22 months and we are all eligible for new phones. We are not looking at the higher end stuff - nothing above a Chocolate or Razor.

Does anyone have any comments to make on phones (on the lower end) that they have gotten in the past 6 months from Verizon?

Thanks!

I have a Razr, and next Tuesday I am up for an upgrade, and I'm getting rid of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hate the fact that I can't use a corded headset, and the bluetooth is awful. It disconnects me all the time. Mine is a year old, so it's possible they may have fixed some of this in the newer ones, but mine is terrible. I am getting a Chocolate, just because I can get lime green :) .

DS just got the LG 8300 and I noticed I can get it free as my replacement phone. It has v-cast but I'm not willing to pay for that. I need to get a new data cable for his phone to connect it to the computer. I may order one - I haven't decided yet.

I have the LG VX5300-it's a nice camera phone with bluetooth, and I'm very happy with it.

My best friend just a a Razr and she HATES it. If it were me, I could get the chocolate!!!

The RAZR's have a HORRIBLE battery life. I normally cannot get through a day without charging my phone. Granted, I use it for work, and use a bluetooth headset, but the phone should be able to hold a charge better. All of the phones from LG are quite good. It just depends on what you want, and or need the phone to do!

Yep, battery life is another huge complaint with my Razr. They gave me a new one a few weeks ago, because I was charging it twice a day, and I only use my bluetooth in the car to and from work, and don't talk a whole lot on my phone.

I have the LG 8300 and am very pleased with it so far. I do not subscribe to VCAST myself but you can download music from your pc. The phone is a little heavier and a little wider than my last one, which I like because to me it is a little more comfortable to hold and fits in the hand a little better. The battery life on it is excellent as well, holds a nice charge for a while. My daughter has the Razr and she loves it, but personally I think that the battery life is awful, it seems like she is always charging it and doesnt use it that much. Also it feels flimsy to me...like if you drop it once it may break. DH has a nokia6215i and that is nice also, smaller and thinner than mine but a nice phone overall, don't believe it has VCAST or any fancy bells and whistles, but it suits his needs just fine.

I will say that is the one good feature of the Razr, it's metal and not plastic. Mine has hit the concrete garage floor at least 3 times, and it works just fine still. Barely even shows a scratch.

Oh that is good to know because I was a bit worried about my daughter breaking hers!!

I have an upgrade from the razr the krzr in fire. I got it last week and so far I'm loving it. The battery seems to be lasting quite a while as well. I haven't charged it since I got it last weekend, I've used it quite a bit, haven't turned it off and there's only one part of the battery missing.

I upgraded and got the chocolate....HATED IT!!! I returned it, and there were 2 other people returning them...

I just ordered the LG VX8600, DH ordered the LG 8300, and DD got the Chocolate phone. We haven't received them yet but I will tell you why I chose them. Everyone I know that has a RAZR hates it. Apparently they have had many problems with these phones. I did not see great reviews on the Chocolate but the kids I know that have it love it. The adults I know with it are frustrated with the signal being weak at times among other things. The LG 8300 we got for $20 and has all of the basic needs for DH. Everything I have read says that it is a good reliable phone. The 8600 is a newer version and looks a lot like the RAZR but supposedly more reliable, better battery life, etc. I was hesitant going with LG thinking that Motorola was a better brand but everything I have read said that these LG phones are better quality. The woman I spoke from Verizon said that she sees many less reported problems with the 8300/8600 than other phones.

Also, make sure you call Verizon about any discounts you may be eligible for. Because DH works for a bank we were able to get great discounts (much cheaper than even the internet prices) and free activation on all of the phones. It saved us a bundle. We got the 8300 for $20, the 8600 for $60 and the chocolate for either $60 or $70, I don't remember. The only reason we got DD the chocolate was b/c it was the only phone they had available that could be used with the chaperone function (most of the phones could be used as the parent phone but not the child phone).

I did not like it for a few reasons...

The first one is that the numbers are flat on the phone. so if you try to hit 2, and your finger moves at all you get a 2 and a 3. the only way to describe it is to compare it to the flat stoves..... I didnt like that

The other thing was that to select different features there was a dial you have to in essence, turn. you run your finger down the side and then across...WHAT A PAIN.

The other thing was that while i was talking the phone would slide closed a little and i would get disconnected.

My original phone was not broken or anything, but i was eligible for the free upgrade. So i went back to my original phone.

I have the LG 8600 and LOVE IT! I also have the LG Bluetooth which is wonderful and it is clear and has never dropped a call yet. Plus is it alot smaller than the other bluetooth options. It hides under your hair and nobody even knows that it is there.

I also wanted a Razr and heard that a ton of people hated them but I liked it because of the size. So that is why I went with the LG8600 very slim.

I can second the endorsement for the KRZR. I have one through Cingular and it is fab. It only takes bluetooth headsets but they work together quite well. Battery life is great so far (I've had for about 2 weeks). My favorite feature though - is the ability to create my own ringtones (I'm sure other phones can do this as well). All my tones are from my Disney park music CD:thumbsup2 .

I am in love with the LG enV! OMG, it's just about the coolest phone ever! We dumped Cingular and I have to say that it was a good move for us. The phone holds a charge and signal better than any phone that I have ever had with them. It has just about every bell & whistle imaginable and I just love it! Maggie

My DH and I both have the chocolate and we LOVE it. The only thing we are iffy about it when we're looking at ringtones to download; sometimes the network isn't available and tht can be irriating at times. I love the sleek numbers, etc... I've used the GPS option as well and that is awesome!!! A month or so after we got ours, the colors came out ..go figure right? lol
