New Paid DVC Benefits

I just saw the email and came directly here to see what people are saying about it!

It looks at first glance like it could have some beneficial use cases, depending on how you travel to Disney.

The idea of using points to buy annual passes sounds like it will be as bad of a trade as anything else they let you use points to pay for.

If you find yourself needing a small handful of one-time use points, it seems like a no-brainer to buy this package.

If you don't usually get an AP but like having memory maker, this also seems like a no-brainer.

So, now it’s not good enough to have direct points for membership lounges. When there’s a WL, your wait could be even longer if someone who purchased this add-on shows up. This sounds like the DVC version of LL.

At the $100 price point, I don’t view it as a bad value. It could seem beneficial if you buy memory maker. My main concern is if the price rises dramatically. Is this a testing point to see how many buy it? Does it become $200 in a year? Then $3-400? How far will it continue to rise?

As much as I hate the money grab, I am a DL local and go to the lounge at least twice a month. The waits recently have been challenging in the afternoon because people camp out for hours inside for their "free" Cokes. I have a neurodivergent child and husband who both really benefit from the calm and quiet inside the lounge. A quick break has made our visits so much better overall for our family.

I'll spend the $99 just to get priority lounge access.

I am excited about it and for a long time, and as I said in another thread, having the ability to buy daily passes for a discount will be a good thing for my DH who doesn't go often enough most years to make the Sorcerer the best deal.

Plus, just being able to buy OTU points 2:1 can make a big difference when you are just "short" those few! It defintely seems like they are at least trying to enahnce things for owners, even with a charge.

Now, who knows how this will play out in terms of increases in the future, but its a start. Add this to the new LL Premier pass being rolled out in the next few weeks for DL and WDW Deluxe guests, it does seem like its a newsworthy day!!!

Cannot wait for the pricing details on the tickets. I was on the fence about a Sorcerer Pass vs regular ticket for our spring visit next year, given we are doing two back to back cruises with a M-F in the middle at WDW. Devil is in the details as always.

Even a regular 5 day pass or PH would be fairly cheaper than a Sorcerer AP, no?

I have to admit, my initial reaction was irritation based on the email. However, reading all the benefits that could be included for $100, it could prove to be very useful. I am slowly warming up to this paid benefit

A 5 day park hopper right now (for our dates) is priced at $803! At $999 for the Sorcerer, the difference isn't that far off (and we'd likely come back for another short visit in the next 12 months, anyway). However, if this ticket is heavily discounted, we may be better off just purchasing two of those instead of a Sorcerer pass.
