I'm headed to New Orleans tomorrow, and need some tips on places to eat or things not to miss.

Of course, I'll see the Sugar Bowl! GO UTES!!!

The list is long of places to eat! Places like Central Grocery - famous for their muffelata (sp?)
There are places like Galatoires, Commander's Palace, and Brennan's which offer wonderful meals in nice settings.
You will also find many seafood restaurants.
Beignets at Cafe du Monde. If it is crowded, be prepared to wait and grab a table when it is empty. Love the beignets and cafe au lait.
Just stick to the tourist areas and enjoy the game!
Let me know if you have any other questions.

Must do: beignets and cafe au lait at Cafe DuMonde.

Note: don't wear black when you go to do this. :surfweb:

Thanks for coming to New Orleans! Have a great stay!

Here are my recommendations.

Restaurants:

in the French Quarter...

Cafe Giovanni on Decatur St.
Irene's Cuisine on St. Phillip (get there at 5:00 p.m. to avoid a wait)
Muriel's on Chartres St. (at Jackson Square)
Bayonna on Dauphine St.
Pelican Club on Beinville St.
Arnaud's (esp. for Sunday jazz brunch) on Beinville St.
Galatoire's on Bourbon St.

outside the Quarter...

Brigtsen's on Dante St. (my absolute favorite!)
Commander's Palace on Washington Ave.
Clancy's on Annunciation St.

in the Quarter...

The Napoleon House on Chartres St.
The Carousel Lounge in the Montel;eon Hotel on Royal Street
Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop on Bourbon St.

If you get tired of eating, drinking or seeing music, you might want to check out the following.

the Museum of Art in lovely City Park
a ride on a riverboat
the Audubon Zoo or the Aquarium of the Americas or the Insectarium
the Cabildo and/or the Presbytere, (museums on either side of St. Louis Cathedral.)

That's all I can think of right now. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks. Looks like a lot of good info. I'm flying standby, and missed my #1 option this morning. My brother-in-law made it though. I have another option tonight. If I can't get on that flight, I'll be staying home.

Send Pixie Dust!!!!
