New "Official" Frozen: 2015 Frozen Summer Fun June 17 to Sept 7!

Will there be fireworks? It's listed on Disney World's site, but in the Frozen tips thread it says it was discontinued 9/29/14.

Last year the frozen summer fun was extended *partially*, things like Oaken's trading post and the snow ground/playground (and ice rink?) were continued, but fireworks, parade and welcome show did not go beyond summer. I think that's what the Tips thread meant when mentioning discontinued fireworks. Looks like they'll be back again this year, at least for the summer.

Fireworks are back. Everything but the singalong was canceled this fall and most of it is being brought back for 2015! The only things that don't look like they are coming back are the Snowground and skating rink. Hopefully, the snowground will show up at some point in FSF!!

Very excited :cool1: that this is coming back. Had such a great time last summer, can't wait to enjoy it again this summer. Thanks lovethatthink for the updated info.

Friend of mine went to 24hr party last year and said around 6pm that it got insanely crowded. Any one else experience this? We are there through the 23rd.

I would imagine that would be the peak time to go....mid-way through.

How are lines at the gate at 6am on Friday?

Is it like a normal opening, less people than that, or line up for the $5 big screen tv at Best Buy?

In other words what time is a good gate arrival timed for RD at 6am? We are at BLT, so no transportation to deal with. :-)

I would think so. @Missyrose said 6 to noon was fine last year and after fireworks. In between was very busy.

Yep, MK was pretty quiet that morning. I didn't get there until just before 8. But I had friends who got there before the park opened at 6 a.m. and we all enjoyed walk-on rides until about noon. I took a lunch break, then returned in the late afternoon. It was basically wall-to-wall people from then until after the fireworks. The crowds started to drop considerably after midnight (we lasted until 4).

Here are my trip report chapters from that day:

24-Hour Disney Day — 8 a.m. till noon

24-hour Disney Day — 1 p.m. to 9:15 p.m.

24-Hour Disney Day — 9:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.

24-Hour Disney Day — 1:30 a.m. to 4 a.m.

Great reports, MissyRose!

Did they have any special merchandise?
Yes, there was. The odd thing was that the official event pin was never on sale last year at MK. If you wanted it, you had to trek to Pin Traders at DTD to get it (which I did!)

Out of curiosity, was anyone who went to the 24 hour event able to see characters last year? I was told the lines closed almost right away with people waiting hours to see them? If this is the case, we will probably skip the 24 hour event and stick with SWW.

I was there at the last 24 hour party. We waited for the villains characters. I hope they change it this year because last year it was really dumb. The villains weren't schedule to come out until around 2 or 230 am. No idea why they couldn't come out sooner. We had FP+ for the second electrical parade, right after that was finished we got in line for the Hercules characters, which we had figured would be the most popular as Meg and Hades were very rare. So we were in line a little before midnight. I believe the line was cut off around 1, with the people at the end not being guaranteed to meet anyone. So we spent a few hours waiting for them, then when they finally came out we realized Disney was doing that dumb character switch thing. Meg and Hades met for half an hour, then Pain and Panic came out. No offense to Pain and Panic, but no one really wanted to see them over Meg and Hades. Of course we were about 10 groups back when Pain and Panic came out. They forced 2 groups to go meet them and then get out of line. One girl was crying (no joke). Then after those two groups the rest of us banded together and refused. The poor CMs walked the line seeing if anyone wanted Pain and Panic, I think maybe 3 groups from the back of the line came up to see them. The rest of us held firm for Meg and Hades. After Meg and Hades came back, we noticed that there were now a bunch of Disney suits and about 5 security guards. We assumed that the next time that Pain and Panic came out people would be forced to meet them or else get out of line.

Have I mentioned that I hate it when Disney does stuff like that?

Anyway, we were done with our meet around 245. At that time, all the other villains had really manageable lines. Well, except for Maleficent and the Snow Queen. They were meeting at one side of the Princess Hall and I believe that line was as bad as the Hercules line and also got cut off.

But we basically walked up to Stroganoff, Bowler Hat guy, Facilier and several others.

Also, I think our plan for last year's 24 hour event was pretty inspired (if I do say so myself). We were there at opening and were able to walk onto stuff (including an early opening of 7 dwarves). We had lunch at Cosmic Ray's around 11 and then the park started to get pretty crowded. It was also getting hot, so we went into our midday strat, which was to do things like COP, Tiki Room, HOP, TTA and so on. So lots of air conditioned breaks and sitting. We had a dinner ADR at 7 for Crystal Palace for more relaxing. Then we had a BTR FP, an Anna and Elsa FP, and a FP for the second electrical parade. After that we got in line for Hercules characters, and by the time we were done the park was pretty empty and we ran around getting more villains and riding things with no wait.

It sounds like we missed most of the bad crush of people because we were eating, using FPs, and then waiting for Hercules characters.

I also have a detailed trip report of that day in my signature, under the 'star wars weekends and 24 hour MK day' report.

Thanks for sharing. Signatures don't show up on my phone, but I will definately check it out when I'm on the lap top

We arrived at 3am and met stroganoff , bowler hat guy and facilier no problem. Then DS rode barnstormer for an hour straight. I suspect this trip will be similar.

Is the Frozen Summer Fun, the same thing that the opening show was for, that caused so many problems at opening at DHS?
I will definitely avoid TSMM at rope drop this summer because of this. We did it one day last summer and it was a nightmare.

I'm so excited this is cming back since our daugter is a huge Frozen fan. How do the fireworks work though? Do they replace Fantasmic? Are they earlier? Later? Only certain nights?

The fireworks ate in addition to Fantasmic! They are 15 minutes before park closing. Every night!

as soon as I heard the announcement I checked flights and hotel rooms!... It would be a short stay but I really really want to do this! How crowded to these events get? I really dont mind waiting in line for rides and such ( I have 24hrs for peek sake) and it would be a great chance to people watch.. Anybody that is not local and does not already have plans to go consider this? Just curious...
