New Netflix pricing!

Yes you can use your Wii to watch Netflix. You don't even need a special disk anymore.

If you're into the streaming only this is great news. But I'm a little upset they are upping the price of DVD's by a buck. I don't watch much streaming and get quite a few disks every month, so I'll just make sure to add a lot to my queue.

I just looked at my account and it says
You are currently on the 1 DVD out at-a-time (Unlimited) for $8.99 plan which is no longer offered. If you select a new plan, you will no longer be able to return to this plan.

So maybe it is only going up for new members :confused3

Hopefully they grandfather in current subscribers at their current price.

I'm glad to see that they are adding the streaming plan - I'm hoping it means that they will be expanding the instant watch side of Netflix even more.

I just checked my account and it says:

The price of your 1 DVD out at-a-time (Unlimited) plan will change to $9.99 (plus any applicable tax) a month starting with your next billing period on or after Jan 02, 2011.

So I'm guessing that current members are NOT grandfathered.

Now to decide whether or not to cancell. We really don't use it very much.

I have the same plan. This is what mine says in bold red letters:

The price of your 1 DVD out at-a-time (Unlimited) plan will change to $9.99 (plus any applicable tax) a month starting with your next billing period on or after Jan 02, 2011.

I am fine with 1 DVD at a time. I watch streamed video on my computer each night before I go to bed. But not everything is available to stream. So I like the 1 DVD at a time to get those movies not available to stream.

That's weird, I don't have anything about it changing, just what I quoted before...:confused3

I'm gonna keep it at 1 DVD regardless. I mostly watch streaming but there are enough DVD only options I want to see.

i have the 3 DVDs at a time plan, and i don't see anything about my price changing. i checked my account page and the home page. am i missing something? if the price increases, i'll definitely downgrade.

Click on "your account and help"
then click on change my plan.

Mine is increasing to $14.95 a month on the next billing cycle.

I still find that this is a great price for what I get (2 DVDs at a time).

Hmm.. I wonder why some say they will change, some don't?

Either way, it is still a great deal for us as much as we stream from our Wii, the laptop, and my Ipod Touch, one disk at a time, we usually manage 1 to 2 per week.

I totally understand why they are making a "streaming Only" plan available, but unless they greatly increase the availability of movies, I don't think they'll have too many takers when for $2 more a month you can get new releases. Now if they could just get rid of the $2 blu-ray surcharge, I'd be happy.

Did the 3 at a time price go down? It's 19.99 and I thought it was 25 or so before. We've got the 8.99 soon to be 9.99 and we love it. The selection is limited though and we thought about going up a plan for a few months during the winter. Maybe the best solution is to watch less tv.

In your account go to See Membership Terms & Details, that's where it says that it's going up on 1/2/11.

On the "Change plan" page it doesn't say anything about the price changing. But on the "See membership terms and details" it does.

Mine says Your plan is no longer offered
You are currently on the 2 DVDs out at-a-time (Unlimited) for $13.99 plan which is no longer offered. If you select a new plan, you will no longer be able to return to this plan. ETA after reading the previous poster I went to terms & conditions & it does say the price will increase on or about Jan. 2 to $14.99.

We're on the one at a time(unlimited) + streaming and while I's rather pay nine, ten is totally acceptable. We get a lot of value out of our basic membership. I think they would really have to beef up the streaming catalog for us to drop the disc aspect.
