Hi,

I am new here. We just returned from Disney World and we are looking into joining Disney Vacation Club. We are trying to decide if we should buy a new property through Disney - ACV and BLT are new - or buy a resale for SSR.

Any suggestions?

I would appreciate any advice you can offer. We want to make an informed decision.

Thanks

You should post this on the DVC board on this same site. Very helpful people there.

I went with Disney when we bought ours it was very easy and fast. Other people spend the time to buy resale to get in at the resort they want. We wanted AKL so that made it simple for us.

At the bottom of this page use the forum jump to get to the DVC pages. start with the operations page.

What home resort you choose may depend on your preference for the actual resort and when you like to travel. Although it is true you can visit any of the resorts, you have the ability to book your home resort further out than the other resorts. If you just KNOW that you want to be at Bay Lake or AKV every Christmas or Thanksgiving than you are probably going to want to have that extra 4 month advantage in booking over non BLT owners. If you travel in off peak times and don't care where you are going to stay - then go resale and pay less money. We almost considered an OKW resale because we thought we might benefit from having the 11 month window to book a Grand Villa during Thanksgiving but then we decided that we probably won't do that very often, if ever even. So, we went with a resort that we know our son will get a lot of enjoyment out of as he is growing up - AKV. He loves animals and we very much look forward to our first SV stay. Good luck deciding. It is very exciting. PS. Disney makes it very quick, painless and easy.

Hi!

We joined DVC in 2006 & our home is SSR. I must say though that we love  AKV. It's our 2nd fav. resort after BCV. We've even stayed at AKV more than we've stayed at SSR. Love it!

We love it, we only joined last year and I have already booked 3 weeks of vacations with it. Fantastic program, check out the DVC member section. :)
