So I see that they have changed the menu at Columbia Harbor House. There are some meals on there that I just can't wait to have. However, I see that they have add fried shrimp.

DH has a shellfish allergy. It's not severe, but we still worry about cross contamination. Has anyone checked to see if the shrimp is fried in separate oil from the chicken and fries? Or can anyone direct me to the right place to inquire about this?

Normally we just skip locations where cross contamination is a possibility, but I don't eat anything fried or hamburgers/hotdogs and CHH seemed to have some reasonably healthy food that doesn't involve salad. I love a good salad, but I had so many the last I was in WDW.

The fried shrimp has been on the menu for a long time. My DH got them on our Christmas 2009 trip. They don't have a dedicated allergy frier at CHH so I would think that they fry the shrimp in the same oil as the fries and tenders. I know the fries can be baked (that's what they do for people who can't have gluten) but I don't know how well the regular tenders turn out baked (allergy tenders are baked at CHH). Hopefully somebody else will have some first hand knowledge of eating at CHH with a shellfish allergy.

This:thumbsup2

They use the same oil. They can bake fries, but that is about all they will bake.

Thanks! I guess I will not be sampling thenew menu or carrying a tray to Pecos B:guilty:ills

They would have no problem making him baked chicken tenders and baked fries there. I personally think they taste much better bakes because they are crispier. Not sure if they would bake the regular tenders or allergy safe but the allergy safe are less peppery so my kids always try to steal mine. It takes about 30 mins to get baked ones so we tend to go in early right when they open for lunch, order, and then run across for a quick ride on Haunted Mansion (as long as the wait is 10 mins which it usually is at 11am) and the timing is perfection.
