So I'm in... here we go! We are excited... we plan on staying at every resort and never really have a home resort... we own at SSR but will be happy staying anywhere so we would like to have you vote!

We can only afford a studio, but it can be any of the studios (125 points for our vacations) so keep that in mind when you vote.

Thanks for the help!

When are you planning to go? There are certain times of year at certain resorts when the home resort booking advantage is necessary.

OK.....my vote was the first and I voted for SSR. :thumbsup2

It's your home resort and without knowing much about your situation I felt that SSR would be a great first stay. You can easily walk to DTD.

Good luck with your decision and enjoy your stay. :)

I voted for AKV, my home resort. (again without much backup info on what you'd like to experience) I really like the ambience of the resort. Don't forget to try both Jambo House and Kidani Village. They each have their differences and a little different feel to them.

We only go during the adventure (off peak) times... our guide said it would not be a problem getting us into a room we wanted as they will convert cash rooms to points for us because it is our first booking and we didn't get our 11 or even 7 month window... we will go sometime sept-dec.

Also, we are very easy going... so we will love anywhere we stay and will try to stay at all the hotels so there is no wrong vote =)

Thanks for the votes =D

If your Guide is willing to help you book your first reservation, I would stay at AKV Concierge because it may be the only time that you can get a room there for your preferred dates.

Also as a DVC Member you will probably find that staying in a studio for 10 days can be a little cramped. As time goes on you will spend more time at your resort and less in the parks.

Most of Adventure season is not off peak for DVC resorts. Oct to the beginning of Jan is quite busy. BCV, BWV standard view, BLT standard and MK view may not be available.

Also, some of your options listed in the poll are over 125 points. For example, 10 nights (over one weekend) at BCV in a studio is 152 points.

If you go during Food & Wine Festival time I would go with the Boardwalk. This would be a very tough to get reservation under normal circumstances so it would be a good idea to use your special booking option for it. The Beach Club is also tough to get at that time so it would be another option, however our preference is the Boardwalk.

If you go between Thanksgiving and New Year's I would go with the Wilderness Lodge. The holiday decorations there are amazing!

I would leave AKV, SSR and OKW for another trip as all are fairly easy to get. Use your special circumstances to get one of the hard to get bookings.

Geez, this was tough. I love BLT and would definitely vote for that if it was for 10 days. I ended up voting for WL due to it's proximity to MK and the atmosphere of the resort.

I voted for BWV since it is so easy to walk to Epcot and DHS.

Why not do a split stay...5 days at one resort and 5 at another?

Or rent a car and spend 3 nights at Vero Beach. VB, in my opinion, is the hidden gem of the DVC system.

Thanks for the advice -- as for the points it is okay if it is a little off as we could just borrow points to cover it and go on a 100 point vacation another time...

As for VB... I didn't even think of that! We actually drive from chicago (take 2 weeks off work, 14 days total, drive for 2 days there and back) so we could actually just stop off on the way. I think I might actually book two days there on the way back as that drive has no excitement and is very long.

Concierge .. we didn't even look into it before but we could eat 25 dollars in snacks alone ;-)

Thanks for all the advice, we are excited to see how this turns out

OK, so I jumped the gun & voted before I read THIS post. I voted Beach Club but if you're going in the winter (Dec) then I'd choose VWL because it's so warm & cozy. We have been resort hopping since we bought in 2006 trying each resort and also own at SSR. We like SSR fine but we REALLY liked our summer stay at BCV and our Jan. stay at VWL. Those have both been our 2 FAVS so far. We always stay somewhere different for different reasons. If you go during F & W then you might want to shoot for either BCV or BWV so you can walk to Epcot (I'm thinking that BWV is larger so you probably have a better shot at getting in there during that time). This spring break we're trying BLT for the ability to walk to MK during a 'VERY BUSY time. Normally we wouldn't spring for that many points but I think it will be worth it for this one time. (It is also a shorter stay for us & since those studios are smaller I figured that was a better time to try it too.) We've also been point misers on a couple of trips & stayed at OKW & AKV (both value & std.). We don't spend a lot of time in the room so don't tend to spend extra points on views. Wherever you end up you will have a great time. Most resorts have SOMETHING to love.

If you are going Feb - Nov I vote BC (unless you have no kids then SSR).
If Nov - Jan I vote WL, and Jan - Feb SSR.

No kids across the board SSR or BWV. (BWV for F and W.)

I voted Beach Club Villas ... intending that to mean during Oct for F&W (using the extra help from your Guide).

In my opinion the biggest WOW feeling is Jambo lobby…. plus I don't know another hotel in LOTS of miles that you can enjoy the view of giraffe right off your balcony. So, my vote Jambo studio.

I LOVE VWL… and lobby there too… but DVC is truly in a separate building. So that shaves my vote in favor of Jambo.

Congratulations! You are going to have a blast in the years to come... answering this question for yourself and others many, many times!:cool1:
