Hello all, just wanted to drop a note to say how much I appreciate this board! My family of five are getting ready to go to DW for the very first time in March...Spring Break Time.. :hourglass I know...we must be nuts. :teeth: We are driving from Southern Illinois and for us the trip is about 14 hours without including stops. My first order of business was to go and buy the portable dvd players for the kids for the trip! After researching many sites and reading thru this forum, we finally decided on Port Orleans Riverside. We are trying to keep on a budget to do this so all the tips I've learned from reading here have been invaluable. This board rocks! :woohoo:

Have a great evening!

We're in St. Louis and 14 hours is impressive...you guys must fly down the highway! Our last drive took nearly 12 hours just to get through Atlanta (of course, we spent 3 1/2 hours going through Atlanta). Have a great trip! You won't be sorry with POR...we've stayed there several times and love it.

Husband is a police officer and has only one speed..... :scared1: We are leaving around 3 a.m to miss traffic. Actually, I'm glad you pointed the time out to me...I went back and rechecked with Mapquest and realized it's longer than 12 hours... :scratchin My guess is with three stops on the way and driving straight thru we can maybe do fourteen like you said...we'll see...gosh...with three kids.. :crazy2: Oh well it will be worth it in the end!

I'm trying to make my strategy right now for hitting the parks. All I've done for the past week or so is research the web and this board at night. :surfweb: First thing I did was buy an AAA card like suggested.

First tip!! For our three night stay with two day park hoppers to Disney (Port Orlean's Riverside three kids one considered adult aged) came to $1422.00 at the WDW website. Triple A rate is $1336.00. That pays for a meal for all of us! I'm very happy with it. :thumbsup2

Thank you all for the warm welcome and greetings. I appreciate it greatly!!

...though it's unsolicited! Be sure to ask a cast member somewhere along the monorail if you can ride up front with the driver. Even though they can only take 4 of you (not 5), it's a must do. My DS (age 7) says it's his favorite ride at Disney! I particularly like the ride from the TTC to Epcot. We've been known to take a bus to MK just so we can ride the Monorail to Epcot!

Have a great time!

Welcome to the DIS. have a great vacation.
