New Member & in the system, but Mbr Services Refuses to give me my mbr #

I closed on my first contract a week and a half ago. I've been calling to find out when I will show up in the system. Well today I appeared. Now I'm being told that I have to wait for my card to come in the mail to get my Member Number.

I even tried playing dumb and offering to give out address, phone number etc. But keep getting told that I MUST have my member number to go any farther.

I thought that others were getting their numbers from member services without having to wait for the mail...Anyone out there experiencing the same thing?

Try calling Member Administration. Same phone number as MS, different option on the phone tree.

It's been a while--since 2006 to be precise--and the frequency w/which DVC makes changes may make my experience irrelevant...BUT...MS (administration, not reservations) gave me my member number (and log-on-to-the-website info) over the phone--the member card takes quite some time to arrive--certainly more time than I wanted to wait before booking!

So maybe the key here is to be sure you're talking to the right "branch"--there's a number in your closing documents you can use.

A "none-of-my-business" inquiry: how do you know you're in the system if you don't have a member number with which to check? You can't log on to the website w/out one, and MS (supposedly) won't talk to you w/out one, either...so I'm curious (but admit it's none of my business!) how you found out that you're in the system????

Thanks for the advice. I'll call administration tomorrow morning. MS told me that I was in the system but needed my # to verify my identity.

Or just call back to MS and get another CM.

Same thing happened to me and I called Member administration and got it, then called member services and was able to book my first vacation. Hopefully it will be the same for you!
